The upcoming Thor sequel revolves around the God of Thunder discovering who he is following the events of Avengers: Endgame and his journey will begin with the Guardians of the Galaxy. It’s unclear how big of a role the superhero team will have in Thor: Love and Thunder. However, one actor’s comments suggest that the Guardians won’t stick around for long in the film.

‘Thor 4’ picks up where ‘Avengers: Endgame’ left off with Thor and the Guardians of the Galaxy

At the end of Avengers: Endgame, Thor left New Asgard in the hands of Valkyrie and jetted away with the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Thor and the ragtag superhero team first met in Avengers: Infinity War when the Guardians discovered the God of Thunder floating around unconscious in space. They picked him up, and they teamed up to help stop Thanos from retrieving all of the Infinity Stones. As we all know, Thanos won, and only Thor, Rocket, and Nebula were left on their team after the snap.

Following the Avengers’ win in Avengers: Endgame, Thor and the Guardians reunited to travel together through the cosmos. And in Thor: Love and Thunder, fans will finally see what they have been up to.

Tessa Thompson reveals she never acted opposite of the Guardians in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’

During an interview with Fandango, Thor: Love and Thunder star Tessa Thompson, who plays Valkyrie, disclosed that she doesn’t share any scenes with the Guardians of the Galaxy in the film.

“I just came to set to watch because I wasn’t in any of the Guardian stuff, and I don’t remember which of them said it to me, but someone asked me, ‘Is it always like this?’ I was like, ‘Yes, it is,'” the actor said.

Thompson continued, “I think it’s like, maybe, we’re used to a certain level of chaos. Like existing in a certain level of chaos because there’s always like the version that’s on the page and then … we throw that out and do a bunch … that we know probably… maybe 95% of it will never get to be in the film, but you do it for the 5% that can live there.”

Based on Thompson’s comments, it sounds like Guardians of the Galaxy may only have a small part at the beginning of Thor: Love and Thunder. And perhaps when Thor learns about Gorr the God Butcher, he returns to New Asgard and reunites with Valkyrie. Of course, we won’t know the actual events of the film until it releases in theaters.
