What Tiffany Haddish is Looking For in a Partner Amid Split From Common
It’s always difficult for celebrities to maintain their romantic relationships because things are so public. In the case of Common and Tiffany Haddish, the former pair have differing versions of why they split. But Haddish isn’t letting one breakup stop her from finding love again. She recently opened up about what she’s looking for in her next partner.
Tiffany Haddish lists the qualifications she’s looking for in her new mate
Common and Haddish appeared to be an odd pairing to many, but after a while, fans began to root for them. They dated for a little over a year and were quarantined together at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Haddish even gushed publicly about Common being the first partner she had who did not try to dim her light. Their split admittedly hurt her. But she’s happy to be back on the market and is seeking different qualities in a man.
“It’s interesting… it’s an adventure. You know I’m all about adventure,” she said during a recent interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers. “I’m back on the dating apps. I put all my requirements in my profile.”
Haddish says that any man she opts to take seriously must have a good credit score and good hygiene. The credit score is important to her because she says it shows they are “responsible.” Whoever she dates must have good hygiene because she “can’t stand bad breath and funky armpits.”
Also, she says homeownership and being a business owner is important to her this time around. “I been attracting a lot of hip hop kind of guys and I don’t mind them wearing jewelry. But if you own a bunch of diamonds but you don’t own no land, that’s a problem for me,” Haddish added. “Land, then diamonds. ‘Cause where does the diamonds come from? The land. So own the land, then get the diamonds. I got diamonds ’cause I got land.”
What Common says led to his breakup with Tiffany Haddish
Fans were shocked by the couple’s split as they’d recently done joint press together, as well as appeared in a dating app commercial with one another. While talking with Hollywood Unlocked Uncensored, Common praised Haddish as a partner.
“First of all, I want to say Tiffany, as you know, is for me, like, one of the best people I met in life,” he said. “One of the best-hearted and most authentic and caring people that I met in life, and that’s what made me love her and be in love with her and want to be in a relationship with her and grow with her. We had a real healthy and loving relationship. It was probably the most mature relationship I’ve been in. The communication, the respect, just all around, man.”
But he says things began them changed when the COVID-19 restrictions lifted and they had to return to work. “I don’t think the love really dispersed,” he explained of their breakup. “I think it was just like we weren’t feeding the relationship,” adding that the relationship became difficult for him “to balance…and keep the relationship fair.” Common said the breakup was “a mutual thing.”
She says Common’s reasoning for their breakup is different from what he told her
Not too long after Common’s interview, Haddish appeared on the same show and gave a completely different story, hinting that he was lying. “I was disappointed [about his answer that he gave you regarding the breakup],” she told the host. “I was very disappointed, and I was like, ‘Oh, OK. ‘Cause that’s not what you told me, but OK.’”
The host spoke to Haddish about Common potentially being the main denominator in his failed relationships with women. Common previously dated Erykah Badu, Taraji P. Henson, Serena Williams, and Angela Rye.
“He might be the type of person that never really settles with somebody,” Haddish said of her ex. “Maybe he’s like, you know, like a bee going from flower to flower to flower. I don’t know. I wish him nothing but joy and happiness, you know. He will always be cool.”
