Tiffany Haddish Says Drake Stood Her up for Their Date for a Family Emergency and Hints It Was Because of the Birth of Drake’s Son
Tiffany Haddish is singing from the mountaintops about her romance with Common. The two have fans rooting for them, including Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles. But before Common, the actor was living the bachelorette life and taking up offers with several Hollywood hunks. She caught the attention of Drake and planned a dinner date but says Drake canceled on her. She now says Drake’s cancellation was due to the birth of his son.
Tiffany Haddish recalls Drake standing her up on their date
Haddish’s story about Drake standing her up is nothing new to fans. The two met and he asked her to star in his “Nice For What’ music video. In a 2018 interview with Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk, Haddish says Drake asked her out to dinner.
At the time, Haddish was at the peak of her career with her success from the comedy film Girls Trip but she cleared her busy schedule for a shot with Drake.
“Like shoot, I go get my moustache waxed, get my armpits waxed, got me a nice little dress,” she says.
But when she called Drake to see if he would be sending her a car, she got the news that not only was he not able to keep their plans, he wasn’t even in town.
“He’s like, ‘Oh man, my bad, family emergency. I’m in Canada right now,” she says. Still Haddish makes light of the situation. “And I was like, ‘Okay, I could have made $1,000,000 today, but I was trying to see what that D do. But all right!’”
In a new interview with Vlad TV, Haddish says she believes the family emergency Drake was in Canda for was actually to witness the birth of his son Adonis.
“It was around the same time when the stuff with the baby came out, right around the time when his baby was born,” Haddish says.
Tiffany Haddish is now dating Common
Rumors about Haddish and Common’s relationship began swirling when Common attended Haddish’s 40th birthday bash. From there, the two sat courtside during the 2020 NBA All-Star Weekend. Haddish also spent time with Common for his birthday and shared a photo of the two of them on a Groupon date.
The two have also been quarantining together during the coronavirus shutdown. Still, Haddish was mum for months on the status of their relationship, explaining that she prefers to keep her dating life private.
But recently, Haddish had a change of heart, confirming her relationship with Common during an interview with Stevie-O. Common followed suit when speaking with Live With Kelly, gushing about Haddish.
“She’s a wonderful woman, a queen, and just a beautiful person, man,” Common says. “You know, I just care for her a lot, enjoy her, and am grateful to have her in my life. I’m happy.”
Haddish says Common is the best man she’s ever been with, explaining that Common is supportive of her and her career. She’s also dropped 20 pounds since they began dating, which she says Common helps her with.
