Tika Sumpter has spent 20 years establishing herself in Hollywood, building a successful career after first starring in One Life to Live as Layla Williamson. Now, the 44-year-old is celebrating her third go-round in the blockbuster video game adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog. Sumpter even shared her beauty secrets as she dazzled in silver during the Sonic 3 press tour.

The Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise has captivated audiences with its high-energy humor, and heart. Since its debut in 2020, the films follow Sonic’s adventures as he battles villains and forges friendships. Tika Sumpter plays Maddie Wachowski, a compassionate veterinarian and loyal friend to Sonic who adds emotion and comedy to the storyline. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 levels up with a star-studded cast, including Sumpter, Jim Carrey, Keanu Reeves, Ben Schwartz, Krysten Ritter, James Marsden, Idris Elba, and more.

Sumpter recently stepped out with the cast for the UK premiere of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 in London. Her stunning look stole the show, as her mostly male costars opted for more traditional black suits. Sumpter donned a NEDO by Nedret Taciroglu gown from the Istanbul-based designer’s spring/summer 2025 collection. The silver strapless dress featured a notched bodice covered in yellow-gold flowers for a dreamy, romantic aesthetic.

Styled by Wayman + Micah, Sumpter wore Brandon Blackwood heels and $23,000 Fanfare Symphony diamond and orange sapphire earrings by Garrard. The Sparkle actor forwent her longtime hairstylist and makeup artist after traveling across the pond. Celebrity beauty expert Renee Sanganoo gave Sumpter fluttery lashes, a pink lip, and glowing skin for the London premiere. UK-based hairstylist Haus of Shee took over for hair, styling Sumpter’s dark tresses in a slicked-back ponytail.

As Sumpter recently told New Beauty, she loves a “clean, fresh look.” Her UK premiere makeup fit the bill — glam but not over the top. The Nomads star did reveal that she loves a bold, red lip. Her go-to is MAC’s Retro Matte Lipstick in Ruby Woo, a cult-classic vivid blue-red lip color. Sumpter also said she pays special attention to skin prep before events. “I’m 44, so I have to make sure that I’m washing my face” as she breaks out “easily.”

The mother of one also divulged that she’s releasing her own oil-based product in 2025. Sumpter has been using a blend of vitamin E, avocado oil, and avocado seeds for a long time, and fans can’t wait until she shares it with the world. “It takes away scars, but it also hydrates your skin,” she explained. Another tip for snatched skin: the Face Gym. “It is incredible because your jaws are clenched and when you’re stressed, all the stuff comes out,” Sumpter shared about the facial fitness brand that tones and tightens the face.

After completing her press tour for Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Sumpter will likely take a breather from filmmaking. The mother of one stays busy with her 8-year-old daughter and a story-telling podcast for kids called Adventures of Curiosity Cove.
