Dune brings Chalamet and Zendaya together as Paul Atreides and Chani. Paul is a brilliant and gifted young man with great expectations for his destiny. However, they reach far beyond his understanding. Everything will change when he has to relocate to a planet named Arrakis along with his noble family. The location holds the most valuable substance in the universe – the spice melange.

Paul could never predict the events that will leave his family in ruins. He’s forced to retreat into the harsh conditions of the desert. There, he meets Chani and he begins to learn more about their way of life. Paul must wrestle with his destiny that will determine the future of many other people around the universe. Is he the chosen one?

Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya’s ‘true friendship’ really helped them through filming ‘Dune’

Glamour interviewed Chalamet and Zendaya about their experience in Hollywood, including their work on Dune. The two actors gushed about one another, but they have also both experienced some difficulties in traversing the entertaining business.

“It’s just amazing she [Zendaya] is so consistent,” Chalamet said. “It’s a crazy business and Zendaya is one of the most grounded people I know doing this and it’s reassuring to have a friend like that because it can be an absolute circus.”

Zendaya agreed with Chalamet regarding the nature of the business but added what it means to have a true friend on a set like Dune.

“Sometimes you feel like in this industry that you’re floating and you need those people who feel like stability,” Zendaya said. “You (need to) find true friendship with people who enjoy doing what you do, but who you also admire, and being able to watch him work in real life is another special experience.”

Zendaya continued: “Being able to communicate and talk to someone about a very specific experience in life that a lot of people maybe haven’t experienced or don’t quite understand – you need that – it makes you feel a little less alone like you’re not in this by yourself, you’re not floating, there are other people that you can grab onto and help me through it.”

Variety reported that Villeneuve is returning to work on the sci-fi epic sequel, Dune: Part Two. Casting rumors flooded the news regarding the film’s new characters. However, that isn’t to say that the original characters will be brushed to the side. In fact, Villeneuve explained that Zendaya’s Chani will get a much bigger part alongside Chalamet’s Paul.

“For Zendaya, I will say Part One was a promise,” Villeneuve said. “I know that we saw a glimpse of her in Part One, but in Part Two, she’ll have a prominent part. We will follow Timothée [Chalamet] and Zendaya on their adventures in the desert. That’s the thing that excited me most about going back to Arrakis is to spend time with those characters again.”
