Timothée Chalamet’s ‘Confidence Faltered’ Without Kylie Jenner at SAG Awards, Body Language Expert Says

Timothée Chalamet is used to walking the red carpet solo. However, fans expected to see Kylie Jenner sit with him at the 2025 SAG Awards. Sadly, the 27-year-old couldn’t attend, as her longtime friend Jesus Guerrero died suddenly at 34. Chalamet’s mother, Nicole Flender, attended the event with her son.

According to Casino.ca, body language expert Judi James said Jenner was “noticeably absent,” as were the star’s “signature gestures of near-parental support — stroking his hand and offering reassurance when he loses out on yet another top award ….”

Chalamet introduced A Complete Unknown with his co-stars, Monica Barbaro, Elle Fanning, and Edward Norton. He won Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Leading Role and thanked his mother for attending the ceremony with him during his acceptance speech.

James noted how Chalamet’s body language changed without Jenner by his side. “First, he appeared to be missing her presence, his confidence faltering without his affectionate, tactile plus-one,” she said. “When he took the small stage alongside his castmates, he fluffed his few lines, reading some from the auto-cue but then pausing awkwardly in silence, seemingly forgetting he had more to say.”

She noted that Chalamet looked “like a chastened child” after flubbing his lines, “his previously relaxed hand slipping from his trouser pocket as he clasped both hands behind his back while the others giggled.”

“Once at the mic, he bent forward in a slight crouch, hands still clasped behind his back,” the expert continued. “His facial micro-gestures hinted at a flicker of resentment, perhaps at being previously passed over for an award. A subtle facial flinch and the pulling in of his lips suggested unspoken frustration.”

Chalamet’s final on-stage words — “I want to be one of the greats” — revealed “a refreshingly raw and honest display of ambition at an event where humility is often the expected script.”

Another body language expert said the couple seemed like a great match

Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet don’t discuss their romance publicly. However, body language expert Patti Wood, the author of Snap: Making the Most of First Impressions, Body Language, and Charisma, told The U.S. Sun that they look like a good match despite their obvious differences.

Wood observed Jenner and Chalamet’s body language during their date night in Paris in January 2025. “His clothes are oversized and his limbs are crooked,” Wood noticed. “It’s an interesting mismatch. He’s eccentric and kooky, while she’s more put-together.”

Wood noted that the couple “has a matching lifted spirit” that shows how “they definitely have fun with each other.”

An insider told Life & Style that Kylie Jenner doesn’t want her romance with Timothée Chalamet to end.

“Kylie swears she’s never been in love like this before; they connect in every way, and she’s completely in awe of him,” the source alleged. “You just have to look at the way her style, and even her body, has changed in the two years that they’ve been together. She’s doing everything she can to be his perfect woman because she wants to hang on to him for life.”

The couple has allegedly discussed marriage. According to the insider, Jenner is in a “much bigger hurry” to tie the knot than Chalamet, even offering to elope without a prenup.
