TLC Announces Premiere Dates for Several Shows, But Leaves ‘Counting On’ Fans Hanging
Several fan-favorite shows are returning to TLC in the coming weeks. The network has announced premiere dates for new seasons of Little People, Big World, 7 Little Johnstons, and Doubling Down With the Derricos. But fans of the Duggar family who’ve been waiting for new episodes of Counting On were disappointed. So far, there’s been no announcement about when — or if — the show will return for season 12.
‘Little People, Big World’ returns in May, ‘Doubling Down With the Derricos’ premieres in June
The Roloff and Johnston families will both be back on TV in May. Little People, Big World Season 22 premieres Tuesday, May 11 at 9 p.m. ET on TLC. 7 Little Johnstons returns Tuesday, May 25 at 8 p.m. ET.
Little People, Big World Season 22 sees the Roloffs still hunkered down due to the pandemic. Zach is trying to decide whether he wants to take over the family farm from dad Matt, Amy is preparing for her wedding, and Zach and Tori are dealing with the challenges of raising two small children.
In 7 Little Johnstons Season 9, Trent and Amber are adjusting as their children grow up and prepare to leave home. They are trying to figure out how to keep their family together, even if they don’t all live under the same roof.
TLC also announced a premiere date for season 2 of Doubling Down with the Derricos, which follows Karen and Deon Derrico and their 14 children. New episodes begin airing Tuesday, June 1 at 10 p.m. ET.
What about ‘Counting On’ Season 12?
While several popular shows are returning to TLC, the network hasn’t shared an update about the status of Counting On Season 12. While a one-off special episode, “A New Life,” aired in March 2021, there’s been no word about when regular episodes might return to the air.
Season 11 of Counting On premiered in July 2020, so it’s possible news about a new season will be coming soon. In the meantime, TLC has been sharing Duggar family updates on TLCme.
A lot has happened in the Duggar family in recent months
Assuming the Duggars do return to TV, there will be no shortage of material for future episodes. Since the Counting On Season 11 finale aired in September 2020, there have been two weddings, two births, and one pregnancy announcement.
Justin Duggar — who announced he was courting Claire Spivey at the end of season 11 — got married in February. Just over a month later, his older brother Jedidiah Duggar surprised fans by marrying Katey Nakatsu, even though there had been no public announcement that he was in a relationship. Plus, Kendra Duggar and Jinger Duggar have both welcomed new babies. (The birth of Kendra’s baby was covered in “A New Life.”) Jessa Duggar also announced she was expecting baby No. 4 with husband Ben Seewald.
Some fans have speculated more big Duggar news is on the horizon. They suspect 31-year-old Duggar daughter Jana Duggar might have a boyfriend. As the eldest unmarried child of Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar, a courtship for her would likely attract a lot of fan interest.
Past episodes of Counting On are available to stream on discovery+. Select episodes are also available to watch on Hulu.
