Can two people make love work, even if they’re of different faiths? TLC’s newest relationship-focused reality series Forbidden Love asks that question. It follows four couples of different religious backgrounds. One person has agreed to convert for their partner. But as each couple discovers, giving up the religion you were raised in and adopting a new identity is not always easy.

Were any of the Forbidden Love couples able to make things work? Here’s what we know about the cast members’ relationship status today.

Mohammed and Ashley

Ashley, 31, was raised in a conservative Catholic family. Now, she’s married to Mohammed, 31, who is Muslim. They have a three-year-old daughter, and Mohammad is pressuring Ashley to become a Muslim as well so that their child will be raised in the faith. But Ashley isn’t sure she’s ready to embrace a different religion, and her family is convinced she doesn’t need to change for her husband.

Despite their differences, Ashley and Mohammed are making their relationship work. According to her social media, they are still together as of August 2024.

“I married you a day after arriving in New York and here we are 4 years later,” Ashley captioned an August 2 Instagram post.

Eli and Laurie

Eli, 32, is an Orthodox Jew who fell in love with Laurie, 36, who was raised Catholic but later abandoned the religion. In order to have a future with Eli, Laurie plans to convert to Judaism. But doing so requires some major lifestyle changes, and she’s starting to wonder if she’s giving up too much to be with the love of her life.

Despite their challenges, Eli and Laurie still appear to be going strong. On August 14, she shared a video of the two of them relaxing in a swimming pool on her Instagram Story. The same day, she posted about their date night in Los Angeles.

“My honey taking me out—just the two of us, no plans, just vibes,” she captioned the post.

Laurie also seems to have found common ground with one of her Forbidden Love cast members, despite their religious differences. When Laurie recently posted on Instagram about needing a vacation, Ashley quickly chimed in.

“Can we leave the husbands behind and go to the Caribbean or something,” she wrote.

“Yes pleaseeeeeee,” Laurie replied.

Lindsey and Elmer

Elmer, 23, was raised in an Amish community but left that world behind after he met Lindsey, 34. Now, they are expecting their first child. But navigating their new life together is harder than either expected. He’s having trouble adjusting to the “English” world, while she’s discovering that Elmer is not quite the wholesome husband she expected him to be.

Neither Lindsey nor Elmer have shared an update on their relationship status. But based on recent posts on her Instagram and his Facebook, it looks like they are no longer together.

As the son of a Pentecostal preacher, Lris, 37, wasn’t intending to fall in love with a Muslim woman. But that’s exactly what happened when he met Lensa, 32. Unfortunately, their families aren’t exactly thrilled with their relationship. Nor can they agree on their future. He wants her to convert to Christianity, while she wants him to become a Muslim.

Kris and Lensa’s current relationship status is unknown. However, his public Instagram does not include any photo of him with Lensa. She does not appear to have a public social media presence.
