Tom Cruise Is Known for Sending This Trademark Gift To A-List Celebs
Tom Cruise has a reputation for being an everyday nice guy. A true Hollywood icon, the Jerry Maguire star has shared the screen with some of today’s top actors in show business.
In addition to his acting talent, Cruise apparently has a penchant for gift-giving and sends out this sweet treat each year to several famous faces.
Kirsten Dunst takes the cake
Co-starring with Cruise and Brad Pitt in 1994 film Interview with the Vampire when she was just 11 years old, actor Kirsten Dunst praised the two A-listers for their kindness on set.
“They were so sweet to me,” she said, according to Yahoo!. “That production, that film, was like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. They just don’t make movies like that anymore.”
The former Spider-Man star still gets an annual gift from Cruise, though it doesn’t last very long after arriving.
“[Tom] sends me a cake every Christmas,” Dunst revealed, according to Us Weekly. Describing a decadent coconut confection, the Marie Antoinette actor shared that Cruise’s kindness doesn’t go in vain. “It gets eaten within a day in my house. It’s the best coconut cake I’ve ever had in my life.”
Tom Cruise’s ‘Mission: Impossible’ co-stars are on the mailing list
Now working on Mission: Impossible 7 scheduled for release in 2021, Cruise has co-starred alongside a plethora of big names for the franchise. The Top Gun star makes a point of having the delectable dessert delivered to those cast mates as well.
“One day I received said coconut cake, which said, ‘Happy Christmas Henry, from Tom Cruise,’” Henry Cavill, who co-starred with Cruise in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, told Jimmy Kimmel in 2018. Foregoing any worries about caloric intake, Cavill allowed himself to indulge. “It’s the most luxurious, unhealthy cake. I then ate the whole thing.”
Also appearing in Mission: Impossible – Fallout, Angela Bassett apparently got her own baked good from Cruise. Though the superstar sent the cake to both Bassett and her husband Courtney B. Vance, the treat was consumed by just one.
“Only I ate it,” Bassett revealed.
‘Top Gun’ star remembers his late night pals
Often making the rounds on the late night circuit, Cruise includes several after-hours hosts on the gift-giving list. Getting in on the sweet treat action, The Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon revealed he receives the luscious layer cake from the actor each holiday season.
Wanting to give The Late Late Show host James Corden a boost before hosting the 2018 Grammys, the actor sent him a dessert of a different flavor rather than his trademark coconut cake.
“I woke up to someone knocking on my door,” Corden recalled. “It was like 8 a.m. and they presented me with an incredible chocolate cake and it was from Tom Cruise saying ‘Good luck at the Grammys. I was like, ‘This is how you look so good. You make everyone around you fat!’”
Cruise doesn’t restrict his kindness to late night personalities. In a 2013 episode of The View, then co-host Barbara Walters revealed she received the infamous edible from the actor, as did her fellow panelists Whoopi Goldberg, Jenny McCarthy, and Sherri Shepherd.
They all dove in to the dessert while on the air.
