Tom Holland has been one of the biggest stars in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since the launch of Phase 3. With the global success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, it looks like Holland’s Spider-Man will continue to be a big part of the MCU for years to come.

As for new characters introduced in Phase 4, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova has proven to be the most popular so far — thanks to Black Widow and the Disney+ series Hawkeye. Now, Holland has revealed that he’s already talked with Pugh about a possible Spider-Man/Yelena crossover.

A ‘Spider-Man’ producer promised three more movies with Tom Holland

In November 2021 — two weeks before the release of No Way Home — Spider-Man franchise producer Amy Pascal told Fandango that a new trilogy of Spider-Man flicks were already in development.

“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel — [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie,” the Sony exec said. “We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go on to the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”

Tom Holland clarifies his future as ‘Spider-Man’

Recently, Holland clarified his future in the MCU when he told Entertainment Weekly that he’s had “conversations about the potential future of Spider-Man.” But, he made it clear that they are just conversations at the moment.

Holland explained that Marvel boss Kevin Feige and Sony head Tom Rothman are “thinking of something” with Pascal. But Holland noted that “at this moment I don’t know what that is.”

The 25-year-old Brit admitted that he’s “not really thinking about the future” right now because he’s “still riding the wave of the success of [No Way Home] and enjoying that.”

Tom Holland and Florence Pugh have discussed a Spider-Man/Yelena crossover

During an appearance on The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, Holland participated in a rapid-fire question segment that included a question about a possible Spider-Man/Yelena crossover. The Marvel star revealed that he and Pugh have actually talked about it. But, the idea has yet to be pitched to the “big bosses.”

“[A Spider-Man and Black Widow II crossover] hasn’t been suggested to the big bosses yet, but Florence and I have definitely spoken about it, and hopefully one day we can make that happen. That would be very cool,” Holland said.

Holland thinks Florence Pugh is ‘amazing’

Holland also talked about a possible Spidey/Yelena crossover while on the red carpet for the premiere of No Way Home. He told Entertainment Tonight that Pugh would be the one MCU newbie he’d love to work with the most.

“I want to work with Florence Pugh. I think she’s amazing,” Holland said. “She’s so good in that movie and all the movies she’s done. I think she’s fantastic. A really cool Spider-Man / Black Widow movie would be a fun little twist.”

What would this Sony/Marvel crossover look like?

There are a few theories about how Spider-Man and Yelena could be brought together in the MCU. One of the most popular is that the Red Room assassin and the web-slinger could cross paths in the MCU’s rumored version of Thunderbolts, led by Contessa Valentina Allegra (Julia Louis-Dreyfus).
