Tom Selleck Reveals the ‘Blue Bloods’ Moment That’s Special to Him Also Made History
There have been many locations in New York City that have been used for Blue Bloods. But there is one that stands out to Tom Selleck, who plays Frank Reagan. He talked about a moment on the show that’s special to him and how filming at a specific location broke new ground.
Tom Selleck said filming at the 9/11 Memorial was special
There are hundreds of episodes of the family show. So it would understandably be hard for the actors to pick a favorite episode.
“I don’t really have a favorite episode,” Selleck said in a video that was released by CBS. “I’m so fond of so many and in that sense we’re blessed.”
He later said what was “special for me was being able to shoot at the 9/11 Memorial. We were the first film company to ever be able to do that. It was a very important show, very emotional show for Frank. I’m very proud of that. But I’m proud of all that we do.”
The ‘Blue Bloods’ episode was ‘The Job’
In season 2 there is “The Job” where Frank attends his partner’s wake. His partner was on disability after rescuing more than 100 people from the North Tower on 9/11. He became ill after the rescue.
Selleck talked about the importance of filming at the actual Freedom Tower with CBS 8. “What we’re shooting tonight in this hallowed place is a, the scene where Frank Regan, the New York City Police Commissioner comes visit the site of the attack and Ground Zero,” he said. “It comes at a kind of an emotional moment for him. It’s an emotional moment for us. It’s kind of a special privilege to be here. That they gave us permission we consider an honor.”
The actor talked about how important the new memorial is. “There’s a very positive aspect to this,” he said. “The Freedom Tower is going up. You can almost, when you’re in New York like I am now, you can almost watch it go up. It’s a tribute to the country and the people behind it that we can rebuild and move on. We think its going to make a fine episode and one we’re proud of special place and time for us.”
The rest of the actors shared their favorite episodes
The rest of the cast didn’t struggle as much to pick an episode. Donnie Wahlberg, who plays Danny, said the pilot is his favorite. Bridget Moynahan, who plays Erin, said the episode where she gets into a car crash is her favorite because she goes on to question her life.
Sami Gayle, who plays Nicky, picked the episode where she performs on stage with Henry (Len Cariou). Marisa Ramirez, who plays Maria Baez, picked Jamie (Will Estes) and Eddie (Vanessa Ray)’s wedding episode. All of those episodes were important for the actors and their characters.
