Tommy Davidson’s problems with Jamie Foxx went way back during their days on In Living Color. At the time, both were up-and-coming comedians that were becoming more well-known thanks to the sketch comedy series. But Davidson asserted that Foxx would sometimes pull pranks on him that he considered mean-spirited. One such alleged prank saw Foxx ripping off Davidson’s underwear in a sketch gone wrong, leaving the comedian naked. Davidson was furious with the incident.

According to Page Six, Davidson wrote in his memoir, Living In Color, that Foxx was “mercilessly mean” to him on set.

Davidson felt that this was due to the competitive nature of their business. The actor shared that the No Way Home star would score points with In Living Color creator Keenon Ivory Wayans when he made fun of Davidson. Foxx would also attempt to steal every scene they did, adding to their rivalry.

Tommy Davidson hadn’t heard from Jamie Foxx since writing his memoir

Davidson recently shared in an interview with Page Sixx that Foxx hasn’t spoken to him since releasing his memoir.

“I haven’t actually heard from him,” he said.

But Davidson insisted that he meant no harm to the Django unchained star when writing about him. The memoir was simply a way to reflect on certain experiences, and how those experiences shaped who he was.

“I threw some light on this because the book actually was about how my odyssey can help the reader,” Davidson said. “So I just pointed out all the situations I was in that I was able to eventually transcend. It was really a road map for the reader … not only understand something but over-stand it.”

Davidson would reiterate this point in an interview with DJ Vlad.

“This book wasn’t about putting Jamie down or Keenan down or anybody,” Davidson said. “My book was about taking the experiences I had that helped me get past conflicts like that. And still have respect and love for that person.”

Jamie Foxx wasn’t the only high-profile actor that Davidson had a bit of tension with. He also felt he almost came to blows with Will Smith over his wife Jada Pinkett.

In 1998, Davidson and Jada Pinkett starred in the 1998 film Woo. In an interview on the Tamron Hall show, Davidson explained that there was a kiss scene between him and Jada Pinkett. Smith would later confront Davidson about the intimate scene.

“He came into the trailer where me and Jada were and said, ‘I don’t appreciate that man,” Davidson said. “And after a little while he was like, ‘I need to talk to you.’ So I was like, ‘Alright, let’s go outside and let’s talk.’ And then Jada was like, ‘No, no, no, y’all. Y’all ain’t gonna do that here.’ And I’m so glad she said that because he’s like this big.”
