Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga: When Will Their Next Album Come Out?
Singers Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga are legendary musicians, and together, they are even more powerful. Bennett, famous for his long-lasting jazz music career over several decades, began collaborating with Gaga in 2011, only a few years after her rise to fame from her hit song “Just Dance” in 2008. How Tony Bennett and Lady Gaga’s collaboration began
The two successful singers first met at a charity event in 2011, according to People.
“When we were there, I sang a jazz song, ‘Orange Colored Sky,'” Gaga told People, and she clearly impressed the older performer. “Tony heard me sing it, and he asked to meet me after the show. And I said, ‘Oh my gosh! Tony Bennett’s here!”
Gaga went to meet Bennett with her mother, and he simply asked for them to work together after hearing her sing live.
“I fixed my hair, and my mom was fixing her makeup, and then we went back to meet him,” the star continued. “He said, ‘Do you want to do a jazz album together?’ And I said, ‘Yes of course I do!'”
Bennett’s ask turned into a collaborative studio album for the two, released three years later.
What their last collaboration was
Bennett and Gaga’s jazz album Cheek to Cheek came out in 2014. The leading singles were “Anything Goes” and “I Can’t Give You Anything But Love.” The singers went on to tour the album from 2014 to 2015, and the album won a Grammy Award for Traditional Pop Vocal Album in 2015.
The two have also struck up a friendship throughout their working together, and Gaga has a deep respect for Bennett.
“The fact that Tony sees me as a natural-born jazz singer is still something that I haven’t gotten over,” she told AARP in a new interview. Gaga called Bennett “an incredible mentor, and friend, and father figure.”
She also revealed in the interview that she thinks about their Cheek to Cheek tour from 2014 to 2015 “all the time.”
“Wasn’t that fun every night,” Gaga asked Bennett about their tour, to which he replied, “Yeah.”
When will their new album come out?
The new jazz album from the duo has been in the works since 2018, according to the new AARP interview. The two singers have recorded together in various sessions from 2018 to 2020 before the coronavirus pandemic affected the United States. They started working on the next album after Bennett was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 2016.
The album will reportedly come out this “spring,” according to AARP. Gaga’s last album, Chromatica, came out in May 2020. Fans have been eagerly waiting for more from the singer, and it will be especially touching that her next release will be a follow-up to her and Bennett’s 2014 album, as well.
