Top 10 Marvel Movies According to Rotten Tomatoes
Outside of Blade, the Marvel Cinematic Universe officially took hold of the world back in 2008 with Iron Man. Robert Downey Jr.’s depiction of Tony Stark kicked off a burgeoning, interconnected world of superheroes, launching the film industry into a new era. And here we are, 26 movies deep and counting.
Rotten Tomatoes ranked all the Marvel movies from best to worst, and some wound up with the same percentage. Poor Eternals only received 48% score. Despite many fans loving it, the film is in last place on the Tomatometer’s list. However, here’s a look at which releases are in the critics’ top 10.
10. ‘Captain America: Civil War’
Released in 2016, it’s the final solo movie in the Captain America series. It bested Winter Soldier and The First Avenger but holds the number 10 spot with a 90% approval rating.
9. ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’
Rotten Tomatoes loves the Tom Holland Spider-Man movies, and Far From Home received a 90% score from the site. Once No Way Home drops in December, this ranking may change.
8. Marvel’s ‘The Avengers’
2021 introduced fans to the mega team that included Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Agent Coulson, and Nick Fury. Loki’s Tesseract dreams didn’t quite come true in this one, but the film has a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes and sits at number 8.
7. ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’
The first Guardians movie arrived in 2014 and had fans rooting for the space-traversing outcasts. Gamora, Star-Lord, Drax, and the rest of the gang won over critics with this film and earned a 92% score — which it happens to share.
6. ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’
Holland’s Peter Parker made his debut in Homecoming, and so far, it’s Rotten Tomatoes’ favorite Spidey flick. Will that change by the end of the year?
5. ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’
Shang-Chi just came out in 2021 and landed in the top 5. One of Marvel’s most visually dazzling films, it features some of MCU’s best action sequences and mythology. Like Spider-Man: Homecoming and Guardians of the Galaxy, this superhero movie received a 92% rating.
4. Thor: Ragnarok
Thor’s sister came and shook things up in the third installment of the Norse god’s series. Cate Blanchett’s Hel had it out for her family, and the whole ordeal fulfills the Ragnarok prophecy. Asgard’s fate and all the sacrifices in the movie earned it a 93% and number 4 spot.
3. ‘Iron Man’
It’s the inaugural film that brought us the snarky, yet intelligent Tony Stark. Downey Jr. will always be known as Iron Man in any MCU project, but this origin story holds a special place in fans’ hearts. With a 94% score, it comes in just under another Avengers flick.
2. ‘Avengers: Endgame’
Tony Stark met his valiant end in Avengers: Endgame, the movie that reversed Thanos’ snap and set the course for the next phase of the MCU. With so many heroes packed into one story, it continues to be the one project that remains on everyone’s lips when they think of Marvel.
1. ‘Black Panther’
Outpacing them all with a 96% score, Black Panther received accolades for its talent, storyline, costumes, and music. Another Wakanda adventure is on the way, but for now, Rotten Tomatoes ranks this one as Marvel’s best.
