The Top 4 BTS Award Show Performances of 2020
This K-pop group is set to return to the Grammy Awards for the upcoming ceremony — even if the performers weren’t able to travel to Los Angeles to perform.
In the meantime, here are some of BTS’ best award show performances from 2020 to watch, including last year’s historic Grammy performance with Lil Nas X.
BTS’ MTV VMA performance of ‘Dynamite’
2020 brought several Video Music Awards for this K-pop group, including “Best Pop Video” and “Best Choreography.” It was also the first time BTS performed “Dynamite” live since its release.
A few months following BTS’ Video Music Award performance, the boy band returned for MTV Unplugged, showcasing songs off of their 2020 album, Be (Deluxe Edition.)
BTS’ Grammy Award performance with Lil Nas X
In 2020, BTS partnered with Lil Nas X for a Grammy version of “Old Town Road.” As another historic performance for BTS, this song was the first time that any K-pop group performed at the award show. BTS will return to the 2021 Grammy Awards to perform, this time as a Grammy-nominated artist.
The American Music Awards performance of ‘Life Goes On’ and ‘Dynamite’
At this 2020 award show, BTS performed both “Life Goes On” and “Dynamite,” both songs that reached the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 music chart.
This performance had some special outfits and stages for this K-pop group, matching the vibe of each song. However, this wouldn’t be the first time that BTS performed at the American Music Awards. In 2018, they sang “DNA.”
BTS’ 2020 Melon Music Awards performance of songs like ‘Black Swan’ and ‘Life Goes On’
This award ceremony didn’t broadcast live in the United States. However, the K-pop group’s award show performances overseas normally involve more music and theatrics.
The 2020 Melon Music Awards, although they were socially distant from fans, featured a few special moments. The group performed part of “Black Swan,” “ON,” and “Life Goes On,” as well as “Dynamite,” featuring a new dance break.
However, this performance was somewhat bittersweet, as the rapper, Suga, was missing due to his shoulder surgery and subsequent recovery. BTS will perform at the 2021 Grammy Awards on March 14.
In the meantime, fans can watch the “Life Goes On” music video by BTS on YouTube. The K-pop group’s deluxe album, titled Be, is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major streaming platforms.
