Travis Barker Is Unrecognizable in Machine Gun Kelly’s Music Video for ‘Emo Girl,’ Featuring Willow Smith
Travis Barker is in the news a lot lately, not just for his red-hot romance with Kourtney Kardashian, but also for his successful musical collaborations. The drummer for the iconic rock band Blink-182, Barker also frequently works with other popular artists—most notably, Machine Gun Kelly. Recently, Barker appeared in a brand-new video for the song “Emo Girl,” which features Kelly along with Willow Smith, and his appearance in the video is making fans sit up and take notice.
Travis Barker appears in Machine Gun Kelly’s new music video ‘Emo Girl’
Kelly’s latest music video, “Emo Girl,” dropped on February 9, 2022. The video for the song is notable for several reasons. First, the video is truly star-studded, including not just Kelly himself, along with up-and-coming young rocker Smith, but Barker as well.
The video tells the story of a teacher (played by Barker) who takes his students on a field trip. During the course of the field trip, the group encounters Kelly and Smith, who manages to wow the teacher and his students with their rock star energy, so that by the end of the video, everyone has emerged with a bold new look and style.
Barker, who is known for his head-to-toe tattoos, appears almost unrecognizable in the video, with his tattoos covered up. In order to embody the role of a teacher, Barker wears a turtleneck and vest combination, along with a gray wig. His transformation is shocking enough that many fans would have to take a very close look in order to realize that it’s Barker inside the buttoned-up costume.
‘Emo Girl’ is a new song on Machine Gun Kelly’s album ‘Mainstream Sellout’
Kelly fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming weeks, with “Emo Girl,” along with a host of other tracks, getting featured on Kelly’s new album “Mainstream Sellout.” The album is set to be released at the end of March, although it originally had a very different title. According to ET Online, the album was originally going to be called “Born With Horns,” a phrase that Kelly and his collaborator Travis Barker have a particular affinity for. In fact, the two even got the phrase tattooed on their arms in the summer of 2021.
“Remember when we got the album name tattooed on our arms?… I’m changing the album name,” Kelly joked to Barker in a recent TikTok video. Barker doesn’t seem to have any hard feelings about the change in title and was visibly amused in the TikTok video that Kelly shared.
Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker support each other onstage and off
Barker and Kelly have been friends for years, and have supported each other through many projects and personal changes. In late 2021, Kelly opened up in an intimate interview, claiming that Barker has created a “family support system” for him, noting that he spends a lot of time in the music studio that Barker built—a studio that features a gym, kitchen, and office. Kelly describes the studio as a family-friendly environment, where Barker and Kelly both bring their kids.
In 2020, Kelly and Barker worked together on Kelly’s hit album “Tickets to My Downfall,” and in August 2021, they worked on a single together titled “Papercuts.” Since then, the two have been unstoppable, and have even gone on double dates together, with Megan Fox and Kourtney Kardashian. Clearly, Kelly and Barker’s friendship is a force for positive change in both of their lives.
