Travis Kelce Appears to ‘Lack Confidence’ With Chiefs: ‘We See Him More Frustrated,’ Source Says
Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has achieved remarkable levels of fame since dating Taylor Swift. They have officially been together for a year, and Kelce has a promising career in Hollywood ahead of him after the NFL. Unfortunately, one source said Kelce’s career with the Chiefs might get cut short due to his performance.
Travis Kelce’s position with the Kansas City Chiefs might be at risk, according to an insider
Travis Kelce entered his 12th season with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024. The tight end is known as the star NFL player who captured Taylor Swift’s heart in 2023. However, he now has his sights beyond the NFL, as he’s reportedly making deals in Hollywood.
While Kelce has ambitious Hollywood goals, he’s not done with the Chiefs yet. However, a source told The U.S. Sun that his poor performance at the start of the NFL season might get him benched.
“Nobody expected him to be struggling that much since the beginning of the season,” a source close to the Chiefs told the publication. “But he has to bounce back as soon as possible, as there is a possibility, a big possibility, and he knows it, he feels it, that he can be benched by Coach Reid soon if he doesn’t turn things around.”
The source added that Kelce appears to “lack confidence” this season, as he can’t “get his dynamic going.”
“Even if he says that the most important is that the team wins, we need him, and we need him to play at his level very soon, because the pressure on him will keep going higher and higher as people expect him to deliver week in and week out,” the insider continued.
They also noted that Kelce’s now a “superstar” on and off the field, adding to the pressure. “Him being a superstar and being on every spotlight with his private life makes him even more scrutinized, and sometimes, it can be heavy to deal with probably,” the source said. Kelce is also getting “more frustrated” with himself during practices.
The tight end said he ‘can’t put a timeframe’ on NFL retirement
Travis Kelce can’t forever play as a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs. Before taking on a role in Ryan Murphy’s Grotesquerie, he talked to the co-creator and director about wanting to get into acting. That said, Kelce isn’t planning on calling it quits on the NFL anytime soon.
“I can’t put a timeframe on it,” Kelce told reporters regarding his time with the NFL, according to Yahoo. “I love coming to work every single day. Obviously, I know there’s opportunities outside of football for me. You’ve got to keep in perspective that I’m still a little kid when I come into this building.”
Kelce added that he plans to play football “’til the wheels fall off.”
“I know I’m 34 years old, about to be 35,” he continued. “But I have a love to do this right here — in the middle of the heat in June. I love coming to work every single day and doing this. I’m gonna do it ’til the wheels fall off, and hopefully that doesn’t happen anytime soon.”
Travis Kelce could become the next great international film star
Travis Kelce likely has a long career ahead of him in Hollywood after the NFL. However, he’s not stopping at just Hollywood. A source told The U.S. Sun that Kelce sent a representative to the Venice Film Festival to “network” with people in the industry and “get a better idea” of the international movie scene.
“They want to see if Travis could interest international movie producers and companies and if there are any possibilities,” the source alleged. “He doesn’t want to just focus on the American movie industry.”
