Travis Scott’s Astroworld Tragedy: Did Any of the Kardashian-Jenners Attend the Festival?
Travis Scott recently commenced the third year of his Astroworld Festival. However, the event suddenly turned into a tragedy when several people died and countless were injured.
Scott is famous for dating Kylie Jenner, so the Kardashian-Jenner family has been receiving attention as well. However, did any members of the clan attend the Astroworld Festival this year?
Multiple people died on the first day of Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival
The festival is an annual festival that started in 2018 and takes place in NRG Park in Scott’s hometown of Houston, Texas. On Nov. 5, Astroworld Festival 2021 commenced the first day of its two-day event.
According to CNN, there were 50,000 people at the festival on Friday. Just after 9 p.m., when Scott was performing on stage, a crowd surge occurred.
“The crowd for whatever reason began to push and surge towards the front of the stage, which caused the people in the front to be compressed — they were unable to escape that situation,” Houston Fire Chief Sam Peña during a press conference the next morning.
One concertgoer even described the situation as “drowning in a pool filled of just people.”
At least eight people died, including a 10-year-old child. Over 300 people sustained injuries, with at least 23 of them having to go to the hospital. An investigation into the tragedy is still going on. Peña noted that officials are trying to look into “what caused, one, the issue of the crowd surge, and two, what prevented people from being able to escape that situation.”
Scott released a statement on Nov. 6, saying, “I’m absolutely devastated by what took place last night. My prayers go out to the families and all those impacted by what happened at Astroworld Festival. Houston PD has my total support as they continue to look into the tragic loss of life.”
The second night of the festival was supposed to take place on Nov. 6, but the event was canceled.
Were any of the Kardashian-Jenners at the festival?
According to People, Kylie was there with her and Scott’s daughter, Stormi. Kendall Jenner was also present at the festival. It seems they were in the audience when the crowd surge occur, but they were not physically affected by the event.
“Everyone is shocked and upset,” a source said. “Kylie and Kendall were in the audience, but they are not injured.”
Kylie is also currently pregnant with her and Scott’s second child.
Kylie Jenner received backlash for her Instagram posts from the festival
Kylie posted a few videos of Scott’s performance to her Instagram story. In one video, the beauty mogul showed a wide shot of the audience and an ambulance could be seen in the middle of the crowd.
According to The Independent, some people criticized Kylie for the post, deeming it insensitive. One person even called the whole situation “so dystopian.”
Kylie later deleted the video.
