Travis Scott Just Made History With His New McDonald’s Collaboration, and the Merch Is Insane
Travis Scott has been on an amazing run for the last two years, dropping his biggest album to date, scoring several massive #1 hits, and earning over $58 million thanks to a lucrative tour. Since the release of Astroworld, the 28-year-old rapper has grown his brand with numerous brand partnerships, including a shoe deal with Nike, a streaming event with Fortnite, and a controversial Super Bowl LIII performance. Now it’s gotten even bigger, with Scott unveiling a new deal with McDonald’s.
Scott’s exciting new collaboration with the fast-food chain began Sept. 8 and will continue through Oct. 4. The “Sicko Mode” rapper’s partnership with the franchise features a “Travis Scott Meal”, a new McDonald’s logo, exclusive merchandise for fans, and even new uniforms for McDonald’s employees.
Travis Scott has become one of the world’s biggest musical artists
Scott has been working his way up in the music industry for more than 10 years. After initially struggling to break through as a producer in the early 2010s, Scott got his big break after T.I. heard one of his beats and organized a meeting in Los Angeles. Afterward, Scott began to release a slew of popular mixtapes, including his debut Owl Pharoah and Days Before Rodeo.
After the release of Days Before Rodeo, Scott began to receive more mainstream attention, partially due to being co-signed by Kanye West. Scott provided production on West’s polarizing Yeezus album and then went on to release two critically acclaimed and commercially successful album, Rodeo and Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight.
Scott transitioned into a global superstar in 2018, after the release of his hit album Astroworld. The album debuted atop the Billboard albums chart and spawned his biggest single to date, “Sicko Mode.” The success of the album led to numerous endorsement deals from brands such as Nike, a globally-televised Super Bowl halftime performance, and the Astroworld Tour, which netted the rapper $58 million according to Forbes.
Scott’s new collaboration with McDonald’s made history
Scott’s partnership with McDonald’s was launched on Sept. 8, with the rapper hosting a pop-up event in Downey, California, according to Variety. The collaboration includes a $6 Travis Scott menu item, exclusive merchandise available on Scott’s website, and new uniforms for McDonald’s employees.
The meal itself consists of a Quarter Pounder with cheese, bacon, lettuce, pickles, ketchup and mustard, a medium fry with BBQ Sauce, and a Sprite. This milestone marks the first time a celebrity has collaborated with McDonald’s since 1992 when Michael Jordan got his own menu item.
Scott’s McDonald’s merch is making fans go crazy
Beyond the food, Scott is also releasing an array of exclusive merchandise. Fans have been clamoring for the new collection that includes basic items such as t-shirts, shorts, pants, hats, and hoodies, but also includes more intriguing objects such as a metal lunchbox, rugs, jerseys, a basketball, a blanket, a lunch tray, a lifesize action figure cutout, and most importantly, a Chicken Mcnugget body pillow.
Fans will be able to purchase Scott’s meal and merchandise until Oct. 4, when the collaboration officially ends.
