Trina Braxton Shuts Down Rumors That Towanda Braxton Isn’t Living in Her Home
Towanda Braxton’s personal finances have been the subject of several tabloid reports over the past few years. The Braxton Family Values star’s bankruptcy was made public and reports of her home being the subject of foreclosure began spreading. But her sister Trina is shutting down rumors that Towanda is no longer living in her Georgia mansion.
Towanda Braxton reportedly lost her home to foreclosure
Radar Online reports that a company called Rushmore Loan Management asked a judge to seize Braxton’s home and sell it to the highest bidder. The report notes that the company is alleging Braxton hasn’t made consistent payments on her Snellville, Georgia property.
Rushmore alleges that Braxton owed a total of $460,229.52 as of January 2021. The company claims say she’s failed to make 19 payments due on the balance. They estimate the Georgia mansion is worth $275,000. A federal court judge granted their request to seize the property.
This comes amid Braxton’s 2018 Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing. At the time of Radar Online’s report, Towanda was still reportedly living in the home. However, per her recent foreclosure status, she can be evicted out of the home at any time. If such occurs, the home can be put on the market for sale.
Trina Braxton denies rumors regarding Towanda Braxton’s home foreclosure
Despite the reports of the foreclosure, Trina says Towanda remains in the home. She revealed the details during a recent interview with Jazmyn Summers when Summers asked whether Towanda is battling financial trouble and if she lost her home.
“I was just at her house the other day,” she said. “It’s still there and so is she. So I don’t know where that’s coming from. I don’t know where that’s coming from. I was just there.”
Trina could be telling the truth, as per Radar’s report of Towanda remaining in the home looming a potential eviction. Braxton purchased the 5 bedroom, 4.5 bathroom mansion in 2018 months before filing for bankruptcy. The home has been featured on Braxton Family Values.
Towanda Braxton isn’t the only sister to file for bankruptcy
With all of the bad press surrounding her finances, Towanda is remaining mum and has yet to speak on anything publicly. The issue may be embarrassing but she isn’t the first in her famous family to file for bankruptcy.
Towanda’s eldest sister Toni filed for bankruptcy twice. The ‘Unbreak My Heart’ singer first filed in 1998 alleging that her music generated more than $170 million worldwide in addition to touring but that she’d received a royalty check for less than $2,000. As it turns out, Toni initially signed a demo singer deal in her early days with LaFace Records and once her career accident took off, her deal remained the same.
Toni was awarded $20 million and a negotiated recording contract but could not speak about the settlement for 10 years due to a gag order. Unfortunately, an illness would leave her facing a similar feat a little over a decade later.
She filed for bankruptcy again in 2010 after being forced to cancel her Las Vegas residency and being unable to pay what was left of the deal amid a Lupus diagnosis. Her second bankruptcy was settled in 2013.
