Trisha Yearwood looks forward to enjoying filling and delicious food that is healthy and beautiful. As the new year comes to a close, and many people decide to change their eating habits for 2022, Yearwood sticks to a way of eating that works for her and her husband Garth Brooks. Trisha Yearwood maintains an 80/20 rule when it comes to eating. Eighty percent of the time, she and Brooks eat healthier versions of their favorite foods. Twenty percent of the time, they indulge. One of the couple’s favorites is Yearwood’s “Sweet Pea” Burgers, a delectable, lighter version of a traditional fast-food favorite.

More about Trisha Yearwood’s 80/20 rule

In an interview with the Today Show, Yearwood claimed she and Brooks diligently maintain a healthier lifestyle.

I was raised Southern, where every meal had meat on the table, but I don’t eat that way in life. I’ve been experimenting with a lot of vegetarian and vegan food,” she explained.

“I think the biggest thing I’ve learned with trying to cook healthier is that I don’t use lower-fat substitutes like skim milk, and I don’t skip butter or cream. For me, I enjoy the flavors, and I’d rather have a little bit of the good stuff and control the portions — that’s also why I don’t use sugar substitutes,” Yearwood revealed.

Trisha Yearwood shared that she continues to create healthier versions of her favorite flavors to allow her and Brooks to enjoy the tastes they love without the extra fat and calories.

“For Garth and me, I make these delicious sweet potato burgers. Now, normally, I’m not too fond of many veggie burgers. They either try too hard to simulate a meat burger, or they fall apart,” she explained to Today.

“My Sweet Pea Burger has chickpeas and sweet potatoes, and it holds together. Sometimes I’ll eat a burger plain with no bun. I make a batch, and then we have meals for the next day or two,” Yearwood shared.
