‘Trisha’s Southern Kitchen’: The Sweet Way Garth Brooks Helps Trisha Yearwood With the Show
Trisha Yearwood has been the host of Trisha’s Southern Kitchen since 2016. She revealed her husband, country singer Garth Brooks, has been her helper during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Food Network host shared the sweetest way Brooks chips in.
Garth Brooks nursed Trisha Yearwood back to health after her COVID-19 diagnosis
Back in February, Yearwood revealed she was diagnosed with COVID-19. Brooks vowed to be by her side and help her through the recovery. “Anyone who knows me knows my world begins and ends with Miss Yearwood, so she and I will ride through this together,” said Brooks in a statement, according to Entertainment Tonight.
Fortunately, Yearwood announced in March that she tested negative for COVID-19. According to the singer, Brooks never tested positive. He spent much of his time caring for his wife and making sure she was OK. Yearwood expressed her gratitude on Facebook, calling her husband “literally Superman.”

After her COVID-19 diagnosis, Yearwood says she had trouble with her sense of taste and smell. Unfortunately, Yearwood hasn’t regained these senses. This posed a problem for the Food Network chef, who heavily relies on her sense of taste to make delicious meals for her cooking show. That’s where Brooks comes in. Yearwood says her husband saved the day by being her taste tester.
“Especially for spicing, for salt and pepper,” Yearwood told ET. “I know what I’m doing, so I know how much is supposed to go in. So, I have to just call upon him to tell me if it tastes right. He’s always happy to do that.”
Yearwood’s cooking show is filmed in her Nashville home. She says she used to live in the home before she got married. “This is where we film the show, and this is where I lived until I married Garth and thought I should probably move in with him.” Yearwood joked that if things didn’t work out with her husband she still has her house, so it would be OK.
Trisha Yearwood says this 1 thing is the best part of working with Garth Brooks
Yearwood revealed the best part about working with her husband. She says Brooks energizes and inspires her. The singer recalled the day they first met and how natural it was to collaborate.
“The day we met we were booked to sing on a duet. We sang together, and it felt like we had been singing together forever,” says Yearwood during her ET interview. “Garth is such the Energizer Bunny and he brings so much energy to everything he does. He challenges me in the studio to go beyond what I think I can do.”
Yearwood says one thing that still surprises her about Brooks is how nice he is. “I really thought for a long time, ‘Nobody is this nice,’ says Yearwood. “It’s like, the other shoe’s gotta drop. And I’m not saying he’s perfect, but he’s pretty dang close!”
