She’s way more than just the winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race: All-Stars 3. Trixie Mattel stars in a WOWPresents Plus series with Katya, an episode of American Horror Story, and in a Netflix-related YouTube series. (Not to mention her makeup line and chart-topping albums, Two Birds and One Stone.)
Is the legend, icon, and star, Trixie Mattel a guest star on AJ and the Queen? Here’s what we know about this artist and her work with RuPaul.
RuPaul premiered the Netflix original series, ‘AJ and the Queen’
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be a drag queen, look no further than RuPaul’s Netflix original series, AJ and the Queen. Released during 2020, this show follows one performer, Ruby, as she travels across the country with an unlikely stowaway, a child named AJ with dreams of living with her grandfather in Texas.
It’s heartwarming, it’s funny, and it’s got plenty of iconic lip sync moments. AJ And the Queen also features drag queens previously on RuPaul’s Emmy-award winning reality series, RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Some ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ alumni are in this comedy series
Being that this series stars RuPaul and touches on the life of a drag performer on the road, some familiar faces appear in the cast of AJ and the Queen. That includes some former contestants on RuPaul’s reality competition series.
Drag Race alums featured the first season include Valentina, Mayhem Miller, Bianca Del Rio, Eureka O’Hara, Victoria “Porkchop” Parker, Alexis Mateo, Manila Luzon, Vanessa “Miss Vanjie” Mateo, Jinkx Monsoon, Jaymes Mansfield, Chad Michaels, Mariah Balenciaga, Kennedy Davenport, Jade Jolie, Ongina, Latrice Royale, Monique Heart, Ginger Minj, Trinity The Tuck, Jujubee, and Pandora Boxx.
Even everyone’s favorite Russian queen Katya Petrovna Zamolodchikova appears in a dressed room scene, as a character named Magda. However, the winner of All-Stars 3 and contestant on season 7, Trixie Mattel, is not a character in AJ and the Queen.
Trixie Mattel is not in the first season of ‘AJ and the Queen’
She went to college for musical theatre, you’d think Trixie Mattel would act in a Netflix series. Unfortunately for fans of this chart-topping folk artist, Trixie Mattel is not featured in AJ and the Queen. Trixie Mattel and Katya even talked about it briefly for their YouTube series with Netflix, “I Like to Watch.”
After Katya shared that she has a role, Trixie Mattel said, “I’m excited to watch this show because I think 85,000 of my friends are in it. Except me. I wasn’t even asked so I don’t know. Maybe’s I’m RuPaul’s nemesis.”
“But I’m excited to see it, I love when things happen for my friends and not for me and it’s televised and that’s cool,” she continued, sarcastically. The drag performer still does make appearances in projects related to RuPaul, including the upcoming season of Celebrity Drag Race. She even did a cameo in FX’s American Horror Story.
The first season of AJ and the Queen is available for streaming on Netflix. For more of Trixie Mattel and Katya head to WOWPresents Plus or the World of Wonder YouTube channel for weekly episodes of the series, UNHhhh.
