All the Times Trixie Mattel Confessed Her Love for Paul Rudd (And ‘Clueless’)
For as long as some fans can remember, Trixie Mattel has been an unapologetic Paul Rudd and Clueless fan. When Entertainment Weekly went backstage for Trixie Mattel’s Grown Up tour, they found the drag performer lighting her Dolly Parton and Paul Rudd prayer candles. For luck, of course. Here are a few of the times Trixie Mattel talked about her celebrity crushes.
In 2015, when Katya and Trixie Mattel were on ‘Bestie$ for Ca$h’
Sure, she’s performed songs about Jesse Eisenberg and Michael Cera. But, since her debut on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Trixie Mattel has had the same celebrity crush. Paul Rudd, formerly Josh from Clueless, Ant-Man from Marvel’s Avengers movies, and David from The 40-Year-Old Virgin.
During 2015, Trixie Mattel and fellow season 7 contestant, Katya Zamolodchikova appeared on the YouTube series, “Bestie$ for Ca$h.” When the question was about celebrity crushes, Trixie was quick to answer, mentioning the Clueless actor.
“I always think of Josh from Clueless, what’s his name? Paul Rudd, the house down,” Trixie Mattel said. It was this YouTube video that sparked the WOW Presents series UNHhhh and ultimately the Viceland comedy The Trixie and Katya Show, starring the two drag performers.
In 2018, Trixie Mattel talked about her ‘first times’ with Buzzfeed
To promote her albums Two Birds and One Stone, Trixie Mattel visited a few press organizations in 2018. That includes Buzzfeed, where she discussed some of her “first times.” One of the questions asked who her first celebrity crush was and, of course, some fans of the drag performer knew the answer.
“My first celebrity crush is still ongoing and strong. Paul Rudd, if you’re out there, I’m available as a loved one or hired help,” Trixie Mattel said.
In 2019, for Trixie Mattel’s ‘What’s In My Bag?’
Another YouTube video, which garnered over half a million views, showed Trixie Mattel browsing through a music store. There, she picked up some of her favorite albums and movies. The first one she held up was Clueless.
“It’s not incest if it’s Paul Rudd, you know what I mean,” Trixie Mattel said.
There are a few iconic Paul Rudd-related tweets from Trixie Mattel
Some Reddit users report that Paul Rudd does, in fact, know and like the All-Stars 3 winner. Still, on social media, the drag performer oftentimes shares her love for Paul Rudd. In 2015 Trixie Mattel tweeted, “[Ben Dela Creme,] I heard you like Paul Rudd, too. Let’s get him.”
“When I say Paul Rudd’s name at night, I like to think he can hear me,” Trixie Mattel tweeted in 2018.
“Thank you, everyone, for reaching out but I ALREADY KNOW IT’S PAUL RUDD’S BIRTHDAY,” Trixie Mattel tweeted in 2019. Will 2020 be the year that this drag performer and Paul Rudd finally meet up? We can only hope.
Until then, fans can see Trixie Mattel live on her Grown Up tour, continuing throughout this spring. Trixie Mattel’s latest album, Barbara, is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and most major streaming platforms.
