The True ‘Tragedy’ of Prince Harry and King Charles’ Feud Actually Has Nothing to do With Them
Prince Harry and King Charles once had a typical father-son relationship. They occasionally butted heads but overall were loving toward each other. However, in recent years, things between the two men have gone substantially more downhill.
Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, separated themselves from the royal family, much to the dismay of other family members. As a result, they have been raising their family in California, thousands of miles from the royals. But it’s created a greater “tragedy” between Harry and Charles due to two other people: Harry’s kids.
King Charles’ greatest ‘tragedy’ in his feud with Prince Harry is the grandchildren
Charles and Harry aren’t on great terms. The two reportedly do have a relationship, but it’s not one that has them seeing much of each other. Harry and Charles last spoke face-to-face back in February 2024, when Harry flew to the UK to see Charles after learning of his father’s cancer diagnosis.
Now, Harry refuses to bring his children over to the UK to visit with their grandfather. Harry doesn’t feel like the security in the UK is fit for his wife and kids, whom he’ll do anything to protect. When Harry and Meghan stepped back from their royal roles, Britain’s Home Office stripped them of royal security. Harry went to court over it, but he lost his case.
“As long as Prince Harry continued to be a very busy litigant, a rapprochement would be extremely difficult,” royal biographer Robert Hardman said of the royal family’s thoughts on reconciling with Harry, per The Sun.
“And then, having predicated this whole case on the fact that Britain is insecure, would Harry bring the children over anyway? That is the tragedy of all this. It’s a mess,” Hardman continued.
Could Prince Harry ever bring his kids back to the United Kingdom?
Harry’s decision to bring his children back to his home country rests heavily on the level of security they receive, which has been made clear. But the question remains: Will that level of security ever be reached? Harry has already taken Britain’s Home Office to court once, but there have been rumors that he misses his home, friends, and the place he grew up. For that reason, he’ll likely continue fighting to give his kids the ability to spend some time in the UK.
For now, though, Harry and Meghan continue to raise Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet in California, and it doesn’t appear that Charles will be spending time with his grandkids in the near future.
