Since streaming became popular, Netflix has been there to entertain the masses. It’s no secret that they have produced a massive amount of TV shows and original films that keep members coming back for more. Originals like Money Heist and Lucifer have fans addicted to the streaming app and hanging on every video until the end of the series.

September brings good tidings to the Netflix family as they introduce new releases and returns of some favorites. The most important release this month is their documentary covering the 9/11 terrorist attack on America.

September’s new releases

Netflix has a few fan favorites returning with new episodes this month. This includes Money Heist: Part 5 Volume 1 and the sixth and final season of Lucifer.

Once you finish binge-watching those, dive into the new releases for the month. Here are five new arrivals worth checking out.

1. ‘Turning Point: 9/11 and the War On Terror’

20 years have passed since the morning America stopped and watched the destruction of the World Trade Towers and shed tears for those affected. September 11, 2001, began like any other day and ended in a day Americans will never forget or forgive.

The documentary follows the series of events that happened and the continued impact. Interviews from officials will shed some light on what might have happened to make the attacks possible, and how it has continued to affect America’s future.

2. ‘On The Verge’

Remembering that life existed before the pandemic is an escape from our current reality. This new series focuses on four women’s lives in a pre-pandemic Los Angeles world. Follow the daily trials of a chef, single mom, heiress, and a hopeful job seeker as they try to control the stresses of love and work.

3. ‘Monsters Inside: The 24 Faces of Billy Milligan’

Documentaries of criminals allow the directors and producers to highlight different aspects of the crimes. In the case of 1970s era serial rapist Billy Milligan, the four-episode series shows us the reality of multiple personality disorder.

Milligan was diagnosed with the mental illness and the therapists discovered as many as 24 distinct personalities within his mind. The documentary shows how his diagnosis leads to the first of its kind legal defense of the innocent by means of insanity. Even 40 years afterward questions remain about the truth behind the multiple personalities.

4. ‘Midnight Mass’

In time for the beginning of the season of horror, this new series sets the stage for miracles, at a price. In an isolated island community, Crockett Island experiences many miraculous and unexplained events.

The events take hold of the communities faith and cause a renewed religious fervor to take hold. The truth behind the events may not be as righteous as the community thinks.  

5. ‘The Chestnut Man’
