A TV Host Said Ben Affleck Was 1 of Her Rudest Guests of All Time
As stories about the dissolution of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez’s relationship continue to circulate, one talk show host shared her experience of interviewing Affleck. Australian journalist Sarah Ferguson interviewed Affleck about his movie Air in 2023. She said his behavior during their conversation made him one of her least favorite interview subjects.
A TV host was not impressed with Ben Affleck as an interviewee
In 2023, Affleck appeared on the Australian program 7:30 to discuss the film Air. Affleck directed the movie and appeared as an actor. Recently, Ferguson told the Sydney Morning Herald that Affleck ranked “high up on the list” of her least favorite interviewees of all time (via Page Six).
According to Ferguson, Affleck seemed uninterested in their conversation, even scoffing and shaking his head at times.
“He was just rude, not interested, going through the motions,” she said.
After these comments, Affleck likely will not interview with Ferguson again.
Ben Affleck said most of the things he does are mischaracterized by the press
For Affleck, one of the most frustrating parts about being famous is that many of his words and actions are mischaracterized by the press. When he made headlines for a parallel parking job in Los Angeles, he joked that even a story like that could get a negative spin.
“That was world-class Boston finesse,” he told The Hollywood Reporter of his park job. “Granted, I did decide maybe I’m not going to bump these people anymore because it’s the Pacific Palisades and they may view bumping the bumper differently than we did back home, but it was so f***ing snug. I’ve never gotten a spot that good. It was not parking assist either. It wasn’t blocking anything, but I’m sure it was like, ‘Ben Affleck blocks traffic.’”
Over the years, Affleck has grown increasingly guarded with his personal life. When he got back together with Jennifer Lopez, he said he hoped to keep most of their romance to themselves.
He said he did not particularly enjoy being a celebrity
While Affleck is happy he has been able to work as an actor and director, he does not enjoy the fame that comes with his success. It has some perks, but it has largely been a detriment to his life.
“I’ve never found any virtue in fame at all,” he told Entertainment Weekly., adding, “I’ve probably gotten out of a couple of [traffic] tickets. I’ve gotten reservations at restaurants. But the whole point was to be able to do this job. That was it. Otherwise, what is it worth?”
He said that fame has completely altered his life. Still, he feels as though he’s learned from it.
“It’s corrosive. It changes the relationships you have with other people,” he said. “But one of the things that time showed me is that it is those moments of crisis or pain or perspective that are strong enough to make you go, ‘F*** it. Well, this doesn’t work. I’ve got to do something different.’ I’ve definitely learned more from failure than I have from success.”
