Clare Crawley Just Ditched Her Breast Implants. Here are 3 Other Celebrities Who Did the Same
Reality TV star Clare Crawley is just the latest celebrity to confess that breast implants have caused her a host of health problems. The Bachelorette alum said she felt “amazing” after her surgery. Here are three more celebrities who did the same, and how they felt about it.
Clare Crawley said the implants were ‘fighting her body’
Per People magazine, on Saturday, the star told fans via Instagram that she removed the implants for health reasons; but said she feels great. “I want [to] cry how amazing I feel,” she wrote. “This has been life-changing.”
Crawley cited numerous health concerns caused by the implants, including a dramatic rash on her upper body, sacs of fluid behind the implants visible via mammogram, and high white blood cell counts. Crawley detailed her physical discomfort via social media, sharing that the rash itched so badly, she couldn’t sleep.
“I’ve been going through things medically with my body that I have not had answers to,” she posted to Instagram earlier in July. “It’s been hard, it’s been frustrating and it’s been scary for me to not have answers and to know something’s not right.”
The celebrity explained that while she enjoyed having implants, she feels she made the right decision. “Maintaining good mental health through this, that is a challenge,” she said on Instagram. “But staying strong knowing you’re being your own advocate, I’m keeping that at the forefront.”
These stars also admitted to regretting breast implants
American Beauty star and new mom Mena Suvari recently told People that she decided to remove her implants as part of addressing sexual abuse she disclosed in her new book The Great Peace: A Memoir. “I would catch myself so many times realizing, ‘I have these bags in my chest.’ And I didn’t have that connection as to why I truly did it. There was a lack of appreciation on my part,” Suvari explained to People. “So I just sort of felt like, ‘Who am I and what am I doing?’ I had gone to this extent, to such extremes, looking for this identity.” The actor said she was ready to “just be me.”
Model and cookbook author Chrissy Teigen also admitted to being “over” her implants. In a social media post in May 2020, Teigen joked about the procedure, saying she’d still have breasts. “I’m getting my boobs out!” she said on Instagram. “They’ve been great to me for many years but I’m just over it. I’d like to be able to zip a dress in my size, lay on my belly with pure comfort! No biggie!” she added. “So don’t worry about me! All good. I’ll still have boobs, they’ll just be pure fat.”
Former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham evasively told Allure in 2014 that she simply didn’t have them anymore. “I don’t have them anymore,” she said. “I think I may have purchased them,” she added, “or they got removed, one or the other.”
Clare Crawley said physical and mental health is her priority
With a rise in breast implant illnesses (BII), it makes sense that more celebrities will also follow suit, removing their implants for health reasons.
During a Q&A on her Instagram page, Crawley revealed that the most important thing was no longer how she looks. “What matters is our mental health and our physical health and that’s my priority.” She added that she would not replace the implants, saying that the ingredients are “toxic.” “The whole point of me removing them is because of the toxic ingredients they are made of,” Crawley said during the Q & A. “I will not put other ones in.”
