These ‘Jersey Shore’ Bars are For Sale
In 2009, MTV introduced the world to Jersey Shore, a show about a group of guidos and guidettes who would spend their summers partying throughout the town of Seaside Heights, NJ. Now, two of the cast’s favorite hotspots are going to be auctioned off.
The nightclubs of ‘Jersey Shore’
MTV struck gold when they brought together the likes of Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi, Jenni “JWoww” Farley, Sammi “Sweetheart” Giancola, Angelina Pivarnick, Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, Mike “The Situation Sorrentino, Vinny Guadagnino, and DJ Pauly DelVecchio. Despite their initial differences, the group quickly came together to form the Jersey Shore family fans know and love today.
During the early days of the series, it was rare for an episode not to feature the crew at either the Bamboo Bar or Karma. Whether they were headed out to have fun as a family or try to find people to bring back to the shore house with them, these two locations were prime spots for the gang to have fun, “beat the beat up,” and occasionally get into a brawl or two.
Trouble in Seaside Heights
Despite the hype and notoriety these nightclubs received thanks to Jersey Shore, the town of Seaside Heights had a lot of issues with these hotspots. Karma hasn’t been open since spring 2018, after their request for a liquor license was denied. In the past, the nightclub had several problems with underage drinking arrests. This issue made it difficult for the bar/restaurant to flourish, causing a rift between the nightclub and the borough authorities.
New Jersey Mayor happy to see the nightclubs go
Regardless of where the Jersey Shore crew film now, many people still flock to Seaside Heights to catch a glimpse of the Shore Store and other famed spots like Karma and Bamboo. These Jersey Shore-inspired visits come much to the dismay of Seaside Heights Mayor Anthony Vaz, who wants to create a more family-friendly vibe in the town. Auctioning these nightclubs off will bring the town one step in achieving the mayor’s goal. Vaz said: “The bottom line is we’re geared toward families — an image that’s going to make everyone feel safe and happy and enjoy the beauty of the beaches.”
According to NJ.com, each party venue will be auctioned off on Mar. 26. This comes a year after the parent company of Bamboo and Karma filed for bankruptcy. Bidding is expected to begin at $1.2 million, and the liquor license alone requiring a minimum bid of $450,000. Area developers have suggested the former Jersey Shore hotspots be converted into retail stores, condos, or even coffee shops.
While the Jersey Shore crew used to be young, wild, and a little crazy, they’ve certainly changed their ways in recent years. Now, instead of vacationing in Seaside Heights, the group take “family vacations” to locations like Las Vegas, where they can see their pal, the “Keto Guido” perform with Chippendales.
The Jersey Shore cast aren’t the only thing that’s changed. After years of being the famed location the show was filmed in, it seems like Seaside Heights is finally going to become the family destination the mayor has been striving for.
