Who Are Prince William and Harry’s Cousins? These Royal Family Members Are The Princes’ First Cousins
It’s no secret that the royal family is big. From the queen’s children to her grandchildren and growing number of great-grandchildren, it’s hard to keep up with who’s who in the British royal family. That said, Prince William and Prince Harry don’t have as many royal cousins as you’d think (though, if you count all of Princess Diana’s nieces and nephews, that’s a whole different story). Who are Prince William and Harry’s cousins? We take a look at the first royal cousins of Prince William and Prince Harry, plus their relationship with each, ahead.
Princess Beatrice
Parents: Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York
Sibling: Princess Eugenie
Princess Beatrice is the eldest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson — aka, Sarah, Duchess of York. Despite being the queen’s granddaughter — and eighth in line to the throne — Princess Beatrice is not considered a full-time member of the royal family, though she does participate in official engagements from time-to-time.
Beatrice’s father, Prince Andrew reportedly has a lot of jealousy towards his brother Prince Charles, which might make for some awkward family time. However, the four royal cousins — William, Harry, Beatrice, and her sister, Eugenie — all grew up together and reportedly keep a close relationship.
Princess Eugenie
Parents: Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York
Sibling: Princess Beatrice
Thanks to her royal wedding, Beatrice’s younger sister, Princess Eugenie has been in the limelight quite a bit recently. But, who is Princess Eugenie? For starters, she’s the youngest daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson and granddaughter to Queen Elizabeth II. Eugenie currently holds the 9th spot in line to the British throne and is a bit more involved in the royal family’s business — though, like her sister, she’s not considered a full-time member.
Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank are reportedly very close to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. The royal couples live next door to each other at Kensington Palace and reportedly even spent time together in Toronto when Meghan was filming suits.
Peter Phillips
Parents: Princess Anne and Mark Phillips
Sibling: Zara Tindall
Not all relatives of the family have royal status. Case in point: Queen Elizabeth II’s eldest grandchild, Peter Phillips does not hold an official title and is not considered a full-time member. When Princess Anne married Mark Phillips, he turned down a royal title, which meant his children also did not receive the status upon birth.
Unlike Prince William and Prince Harry, Peter Phillips does not participate in royal family business. Instead, he works in the sports sponsorship and management fields. Despite not being an active member of the family, he still supports his cousins and is involved in family events. In fact, he and his wife, Autumn Phillips, attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding in May 2018.
Zara Tindall
Parents: Princess Anne and Mark Phillips
Sibling: Peter Phillips
Princess Anne and Mark Phillips’ daughter, Zara Tindall is also one of Prince William and Harry’s cousins. But, like her brother, she did not receive a royal title upon birth. Similar to her grandmother and mother, Zara is an equestrian and grew up riding horses on the royal family’s properties. Today, she’s an Olympic Equestrian and decorated in her sport.
In 2011, Zara married Mike Tindall, a former professional rugby player. They have two children together, Mia Grace Tindall and Lena Elizabeth Tindall and live at Princess Anne’s royal abode, Gatcombe Park. Zara and Mike attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding in May 2018 and have participated in various family events over the years.
Lady Louise Windsor
Parents: Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex
Sibling: James, Viscount Severn
In addition to Beatrice, Eugenie, Peter, and Zara, Prince William and Prince Harry also have two younger cousins by way of their uncle, Prince Edward. Lady Louise Windsor is the eldest daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex. She is Queen Elizabeth II’s youngest granddaughter and nearly 20 years younger than Prince William and Prince Harry. Despite their age gap, Lady Louise Windsor is fairly close with her older cousins. In fact, she was a bridesmaid in Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding.
James, Viscount Severn
Parents: Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex
Sibling: Lady Louise Windsor
Prince William and Prince Harry’s youngest royal first cousin is James, Viscount Severn. Like his sister, James was also in Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding and served as a page boy. He also attended Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding as a guest with his parents, Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex and sister, Lady Louise Windsor.
In addition to their royal cousins, Prince William and Prince Harry also have a lot of first cousins on their mother, Princess Diana’s side.
