What is Steve Carell’s Net Worth? Here’s What ‘The Office’ Icon Is Worth Today
Steve Carell is one of those rare Hollywood gems who didn’t get their big break until after they turned 40. The actor/comedian was born and raised in Concord, Massachusetts and though acting was always something he wanted to do, his career took several dips and curves before he made it big in Hollywood. Before he landed in Chicago, where he became apart of the Second City theater and met his dear friend, Stephen Colbert, Carell was a mail carrier and a DJ.
By the late ’80s he decided to try for his dreams, and he snagged a role in a Brown’s Chicken commercial, had a tiny part in the 1991 film Curly Sue starring Jim Belushi, and he met Colbert which would eventually lead him to a role as a correspondent for The Daily Show from 1999 to 2005.
In 2005, everything changed for the comedian. He signed a deal with NBC to remake the highly successful British sitcom, The Office, based on his work on The Daily Show and in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. Also, he snagged a lead role in the film, The 40-Year Old Virgin. Though we all love and revere The Office for the iconic series that is now, the ratings for the series during its freshman series were lackluster. In fact, the only reason NBC decided to step out on faith and renew it for Season 2 is because of the buzz around The 40-Year Old Virgin. Thankfully, it all worked out. Since leaving The Office in 2011, Carell has gone on to star in a slew of blockbusters, in both the comedic and dramatic genres. So what is the Beautiful Boy actor worth these days?
Steve Carell’s net worth
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Steve Carell is a $50 million man. That’s actually not surprising at all for a man who has been so diligent in his career, snagging a massive role like Michael Scott in The Office and even enamoring children as Gru in the Despicable Me franchise.
Though Carell began his tenure on The Office making $87,500 per episode, his salary grew exponentially. By the third season of the critically acclaimed comedy, he was taking home $175,000 per episode and when he sat down Michael’s “Best Boss” mug for the last time at the end of Season 6, Carell was bringing home an astounding $300,000 per episode which means he pulled in roughly $7.8 million per season.
Will The Office ever get a reboot?
Fans of The Office are ride or die for the series, and since Hollywood seems to be in an era of reboots and remakes, it would make sense that some fans of The Office want to see their favorite show resurrected with Carell at the helm. Unfortunately, since the show had such a massive cast, and Carell has clearly moved on to do everything from Crazy, Stupid, Love to Little Miss Sunshine, we highly doubt that will happen — at least not with the original cast.
However, the man who put all of our nightmares about corporate America on the small screen did give us a treat when he hosted Saturday Night Live in November 2018. During his opening monologue, Carell said of a reboot, “Actually, I don’t think so, it was a great experience and I love all this people but I just don’t think it’s the best idea. I think maybe we should just leave it alone.”
During his monologue, Carell was then jokingly confronted by his former co-stars, Jenna Fischer, Ed Helms and Ellie Kemper who begged him to reconsider.
If you’re distraught about this, then you should know that a revival of The Office is in development over at NBC, but without Carell, what is the point?
