TXT: Beomgyu Felt a ‘Sudden Urge to Write Some Feel-Good Music’
On May 9, Tomorrow X Together released a new EP titled minisode 2: Thursday’s Child. Following the release of the album, each member of the K-pop group was interviewed by Weverse Magazine. In his interview with Weverse Magazine, Beomgyu shared details about the making of TXT‘s minisode 2: Thursday’s Child and his role co-producing the song “Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go.”
TXT’s Beomgyu wanted to make ‘feel-good music’
TXT’s EP minisode 2: Thursday’s Child consists of five songs, and “Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go” is the album’s closing track.
Beomgyu co-produced the song, and he explained the process behind the making of “Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go” in an interview with Weverse Magazine.
“This was around the end of last year or the beginning of this year: I got this sudden urge to write some feel-good music and felt like I had to write it right away. And that’s the track I wrote. I wanted it to be a good song for everyone to dance along to together at concerts, listen to when taking a drive or to take a good mood and make it even better,” he told Weverse Magazine.
Beomgyu continued, “I kept these positive thoughts in mind while working on it. It’s a little bit different from other music I’ve written and I’m happy that I was lucky enough to have a song included on one of our albums again after ‘Maze in the Mirror’ was two years ago. (laughs).”
Beomgyu co-produced TXT’s song ‘Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go’
For the first time in their careers, Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Huening Kai split up into sub-units for some songs on minisode 2: Thursday’s Child.
“Lonely Boy (The Tattoo on My Ring Finger)” is performed by Yeonjun and Huening Kai, and “Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go” is performed by Soobin, Beomgyu, and Taehyun.
Speaking about “Thursday’s Child Has Far To Go,” Beomgyu told Weverse Magazine:
“Trends come back around, you know? I feel like all the popular songs have catchy, synth-based melodies right now, so I tried to make use of that. I used to always write songs on guitar, but I listened to a lot of newer music while working out lately and decided I wanted to try my hand at making that kind of music. As you said, it could have ended up as a song with a strong retro feel, but I liked the way TAEHYUN gave it a more sophisticated vibe when he wrote the topline melody.”
‘Good Boy Gone Bad’ is the lead single on ‘minisode 2: Thursday’s Child’
As an album, minisode 2: Thursday’s Child details the complicated feelings that surround breakups. “Good Boy Gone Bad” is the EP’s lead single, and it explores the anger one might feel after a breakup.
In his interview with Weverse Magazine, Beomgyu shared how he reached the lead single’s mindset.
“I wanted to look as much like a bad boy as possible. I pictured myself as someone with nothing left to lose—somebody who’s gone crazy. It’s hard to put into words, but I was going for the feeling of someone going to a graveyard alone at night,” Beomgyu said in the interview.
