The K-pop group Tomorrow X Together released minisode 2: Thursday’s Child on May 9. The EP went on to debut at No. 4 on the Billboard 200, becoming TXT’s highest ranking on the chart. It is also TXT‘s second time having an album debut in the top 10 spots on the Billboard 200.

TXT’s new EP ‘minisode 2: Thursday’s Child’ debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200

Each week, the Billboard 200 ranks the top albums in the U.S. based on physical sales, digital sales, and streams. In the music industry, it is considered one of the most important markers of an album’s success.

On May 22, Billboard announced the new rankings of the Billboard 200. Kendrick Lamar’s new album Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers debuted at No. 1 on the chart, and TXT’s minisode 2: Thursday’s Child debuted at No. 4.

This is TXT’s highest debut on the Billboard 200

TXT’s 2021 album The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE previously debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 following its release. With minisode 2: Thursday’s Child, the quintet surpassed the accomplishment.

The band has appeared on the Billboard 200 six times, counting minisode 2: Thursday’s Child. TXT has had three albums rank in the top 30 spots on the chart, as the band’s 2020 EP minisode 1: Blue Hour debuted at No. 25. With minisode 2: Thursday’s Child, TXT earned their second debut in the top 10 spots on the chart.

According to Billboard, the EP, “starts with 68,500 equivalent album units earned. Of that sum, album sales comprise 65,500; SEA units comprise 3,000 (equaling 4.37 million on-demand official streams of the set’s five tracks) and TEA units comprise a negligible sum.”

Billboard also reports that minisode 2: Thursday’s Child, “enters at No. 1 on the Top Album Sales chart with the third-largest sales week of any album in 2022 — 65,500 sold.”
