K-pop group Tomorrow X Together is currently preparing for a May comeback. Although they have not released a Korean album in nine months, the five TXT members have stayed busy. In March, Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and Huening Kai held a live fan concert online and offline for MOA (TXT fandom.)

Expectations are high coming off of a massive 2021

On April 6, Big Hit Music confirmed to Soompi, “TXT are preparing to make a comeback in early May.”

Sometimes called the fourth-generation leaders of K-pop, expectations are high for TXT’s next release. Fans last heard from the group when it released its debut Japanese EP, Chaotic Wonderland, at the end of 2021. In August of 2021, TXT dropped The Chaos Chapter: Fight or Escape, a repacked version of The Chaos Chapter: Freeze

Forbes reported Chaotic Wonderland, The Chaos Chapter: Freeze ,and an earlier 2021 release, Still Dreaming, all debuted on the Billboard 200 charts. TXT followed labelmate BTS’s footsteps by becoming the second Korean group in history to debut three different albums on the Billboard 200 in the same year.

Before 2021, TXT entered the Billboard 200 chart with The Dream Chapter: STAR and minisode1: Blue Hour. Of those releases, The Chaos Chapter: Freeze had the highest debut at No. 5 on the Billboard 200.

TXT stays busy between albums

Although it’s been a few months since their last release, that doesn’t mean the five members of TXT aren’t busy. The group recently performed a two-night fan concert in Seoul, South Korea, called MOA X TOGETHER. On March 5 and 6, TXT performed 10 songs for online and offline fans.

In February, Taehyun and Yeonjun were featured on singer-songwriter Salem Ilese’s “PS5.” Ilese co-wrote TXT’s hit 2021 song “Anti-Romantic” from The Chaos Chapter: Freeze.

During the same month, Huening Kai released a cover of Avril Lavigne’s Sk8ter Boi. The video was uploaded shortly after Lavigne responded to a tweet from the singer referencing the song. Lavigne then shared the cover on her Twitter account.

TXT has competition for the title of leaders of the 4th-generation

While TXT has been preparing its next comeback, another fourth-generation group has taken over the Billboard charts. Stray Kids album ODDINARY recently debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. They joined BTS and SuperM as the only K-pop groups to debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Prior to the ODDINARY release, Stray Kids, who debuted as a group in 2018, did not have US distribution. A new deal with Republic Records now makes them eligible for the Billboard 200 chart. ODDINARY was their first entry.

The EP also became the best selling album of 2022 so far, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Top Album Sales and Billboard Top Artists charts. Their international success continued by debuting at No. 1 on the World Album and World Digital Song charts.

TXT and Stray Kids have a completely different sound, allowing each group to shine. In fact, the fourth generation is stacked with talented groups ready to take over the charts like Enhypen, Itzy, Ateez, and aespa.
