‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ Fans React to the Return of Netflix’s Original Series with ‘Kimmy Vs. the Reverend’
What the foop is this soup! Kimmy Schmidt is getting married and there’s one thing standing in her way. Well, one guy with a white belt in karate. Here’s what fans are saying about this interactive “choose your own adventure” special of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, titled “Kimmy Vs. the Reverend.”
It’s a miracle! ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ is back with an interactive episode
We’ve been waiting so long for this episode that our Rachel was starting to Phoebe. It’s been about a year since fans said goodbye to Kimmy, Titus, and all of their friends. Now, Netflix is back with one more episode of this original comedy series.
Unlike previous episodes, Kimmy Vs. the Reverend is interactive. That means, for the first time ever, fans get to choose whether or not Titus will sleep or go to the gym. Or Kimmy will wear a fancy dress or a fun dress.
This would be the second “choose your own adventure” special created by Netflix, following the release of the groundbreaking Black Mirror episode, Bandersnatch.
Ellie Kemper returns to play the title character, Kimmy Schmidt
Most of the original cast members return for this episode. That includes Tituss Burgess, who portrays Titus Andromedon, Ellie Kemper, who portrays Kimmy Schmidt, and Jon Hamm, who portrays Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne. Daniel Radcliffe also joins in on the fun, portraying Kimmy’s fiancé.
In this special, Kimmy Schmidt is forced to put her wedding on hold because of the Reverend. She ends up traveling back to Indiana to talk to him in prison and finds out some pretty disturbing information. We’re not just talking about Jacqueline White living in Murray Hill.
Fans of Kimmy, Titus, Jacqueline White, and Lillian shared their thoughts on social media
This episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt premiered on May 12. Almost instantly, fans took to social media, sharing their love for Kimmy, Titus, and their latest (and presumably,) their last adventure.
“Wait the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt interactive special is gonna be released when I wake up OPRAH,” one Twitter user wrote the night prior to its release. “I better get the opportunity to have Jacqueline make out with a woman and that’s all I’m gonna say.”
“Highly recommend blocking out a few hours today to watch/play the #KimmySchmidt interactive special that just dropped on Netflix, which is delightful, hilarious, and a perfect end to the series. Only spoiler/tip I’ll give you for the play-through: skip the intro. Trust me,” another Twitter user said.
“It was genius for @KimmySchmidt to have an interactive show. This is my first time experiencing it and it [definitely] keeps you involved,” another Twitter user wrote. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy Vs. The Reverend is now on Netflix.
The four previously released seasons of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt are also available for streaming on Netflix.
