‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ premiered on Netflix

She’s alive. This Netflix original series featured Ellie Kemper as the main character, Kimmy Schmidt, a “mole woman” who was kidnapped and hidden underground by a reverend for several years. After she was rescued, she was ready to make up for everything she missed.

After moving to New York City, Kimmy Schmidt had a few boyfriends. There was her “study buddy” Dong, and the rich “Daddy’s Boy” Logan Beekman. When Kimmy applied to college, she started dating her classmate, Perry.

Who Plays Kimmy’s Ex-Boyfriend, Perry, in ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt?’

After a night of babysitting Xan and driving the bus, Kimmy and Perry kissed outside of her “apartment.” She invited him inside, but he said no because he had school early the next day — divinity school. He was studying to be a reverend.

Of course, this was a sore subject for Kimmy Schmidt, who was kidnapped by a reverend and kept in an underground bunker. As a result, she threw a trash can at Perry and told him she didn’t want to see him anymore.

Kimmy and Perry later made amends at their professor’s house, when Perry shared that he knew about Kimmy’s past from googling her. After helping Perry rap his philosophy lecture, the two become friends again.

This Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt character was portrayed by a member of the original Broadway Hamilton cast, Daveed Diggs. As the series progressed however, Perry and Kimmy drifted apart, eventually, Kimmy got engaged to another person.

Is ‘Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’ still on Netflix?

After releasing several seasons exclusively on this streaming platform, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt drew to a close. In the final episode, Kimmy published her novel and Titus made his Broadway debut. Episodes are still available for streaming. However, no new episodes will premiere on Netflix.

“I would always be happy to revisit these characters,” writer Tina Fey said of the interactive episode during an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “But this does feel like a nice coda to the series, and it feels so in keeping with the silliness of the series — the light and dark mix.”

Perry did not appear in the series finale or the interactive episode, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt: Kimmy vs. the Reverend. (In that special episode, Kimmy got married to her british fiancé, portrayed by Daniel Radcliffe.)

Episodes of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt are available for streaming on Netflix.
