Usher lived with Sean “Diddy” Combs for a year while he was a teenager. During this time, the singer said he saw some “very curious things” in Diddy’s home. When asked if he would let his own children live with the hip-hop mogul, Usher gave a definitive no.

After Usher met Diddy, the latter invited him to New York City to teach him about the music industry.

“I got a tutor, went to New York City, and he began to show me the ropes,” he told People. “Some of the most valuable lessons I could ever learn as an entrepreneur were picked up when I spent that time in New York with him, this unwavering desire to create and make certain that your creative ideas executed.”

He lived with Diddy when he was a teenager. He said Diddy, who was in his twenties at the time, introduced him to sex.

“There was always girls around,” he told Rolling Stone in 2004. “You’d open a door and see somebody doing it, or several people in a room having an orgy. You never knew what was going to happen.”

In an appearance on The Howard Stern Show in 2016, Usher described his time living with Diddy as “pretty wild.” When asked if he would let his own children live with him, Usher responded with a resounding “hell no.”

Usher said that while living with Diddy, he tried to learn as much as he could about the music industry.

“I can remember Outkast making their first records and being able to hear Rico [Wade] work on these songs, literally sleeping in this man’s living room, being in the dungeon, just kind of being around and just trying to figure out who’s who,” he recalled.

He said he paid close attention to Diddy’s work.

“I saw him in the real time working it out, him building something from nothing, him understanding how culture and collaboration could build careers,” he said. “Being able to see that, that’s what I got.”

The singer appeared to delete his tweets following Diddy’s arrest

In September, police arrested Diddy on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. In the aftermath, all posts on Usher’s X account (formerly Twitter) vanished. Immediately, X users began to wonder if Usher deleted his posts because of his relationship with Diddy. As social media users began posting theories about why he would delete his posts, Usher responded.
