Valerie Bertinelli Swears by Her All-in-One Breakfast Smoothie for a Morning ‘Jumpstart’
Food Network star Valerie Bertinelli has what you need to properly wake up in the mornings.
It’s her all-in-one breakfast smoothie, and once you see what’s in it, you’re going to want to try it for yourself. The Valerie’s Home Cooking host’s recipe is that good.
Bertinelli turns to this smoothie to get her going when she needs it most
The former One Day at a Time star posted the smoothie recipe on her website noting that she doesn’t have it every day. But it’s her go-to choice for those mornings when she’s in a rush and needs to get into gear fast.
“This is the perfect breakfast for when I’m in a hurry,” she said. “I add all the ingredients, blend, and it’s ready in minutes. But the fresh, healthy way it tastes and jump-starts my energy level at the same time is the real luxury. It’s also efficient.”
Bertinelli makes sure to keep her fridge and freezer well-stocked for when the mood strikes her to throw all the ingredients in the blender at a moment’s notice.
“I always have frozen bananas on hand,” she said. “As soon as the bunch I brought home from the market starts to go dark (and I know I’m not going to make banana bread), I slice them up, store them in a baggie, and pop them in the freezer. Voilà, fresh bananas. Since I use coconut milk and almond milk in my coffee, they’re also staples in the fridge.”
What’s in Bertinelli’s All-in-One Breakfast Smoothie
The raven-haired chef posted on Instagram recently about this delicious morning booster. The recipe serves two and “packs a nutritious punch” with ripe, peeled, frozen bananas, ice, unsweetened almond milk, cold-brew coffee, uncooked oats, honey, almond butter, chocolate-covered espresso beans, coconut oil, vanilla extract, and if you like, mint sprigs.
Bertinelli noted that cold-brew coffee is found in the dairy section of your grocery store. She also made clear that you don’t have to use cold-brew coffee; you can instead use chilled leftover coffee or espresso. Just brew an extra cup and keep it in the fridge for when you’re ready to try this smoothie.
She said in her post, “This month I plan to make myself a fresh and healthy smoothie to give me a little pep in my step after my morning walks! My “All-In-One Breakfast Smoothie” has yummy bananas, almond butter, some rolled oats, honey, and more importantly, 1/2 cup of coffee! Hahaha! Give this deeelicious recipe a try in the morning, and it’ll hold you off until your next meal.”
Bertinelli’s smoothie couldn’t be easier to make
Her smoothie recipe is as easy to make as you might imagine.
Just put the bananas, ice, milk, coffee, oats, honey, almond butter, chopped chocolate-covered espresso beans, coconut oil, and vanilla in a blender and blend until it’s smooth.
Serve into two glasses, sprinkle with the chocolate- covered espresso beans, add the sprig of mint if you are using it, and enjoy.
