Animes have a way of sticking with their fans. Almost 14 years since its original end, Vampire Knight is still a well-regarded anime fans adore. The anime focuses on a female leading character named Yuki Cross. She is a guardian of Cross Academy, protecting the “Day Class” students from the vampires in the “Night Class.” After two seasons of the anime, the ending left more to be explored. After so many years, Vampire Knight Season 3 will likely never go into production in 2022 or the near future.

‘Vampire Knight’ is story of vampires and fantasy based on an original manga

It is no surprise a popular anime was originally a manga. Vampire Knight was first a manga of the same name, written and illustrated by Matsuri Hino. The manga series was published on November 4, 2004. It continued its run until May 2013.

Vampire Knight follows the story of Yuki Cross. Her earliest childhood memory is being rescued from a vampire by Kaname Kuran. Kaien Cross raises her alongside Zero Kiryu. Zero, too witnessed the murder of his family at the hands of a vampire.

Years later, they attend Cross Academy and act as guardians of the Disciplinary community. They protect the human students of the “Day Class” from the elite vampires of the “Night Class.” Having known Kaname since she was a child, Yuki has had a deep admiration for him that borderlines love and romance.

Yuki, Kaname, and Zero’s fates are intertwined as the anime progresses. Kaname is no ordinary vampire but a pureblood. His feelings for Yuki become more apparent, and so do Zero’s. Yuki’s past is hidden in her forgotten memories. After watching the fantasy anime, fans will be left wanting a Vampire Knight Season 3.

‘Vampire Knight’ Season 3 will likely never happen for fans

According to sites like Trinikid and CBR, Vampire Knight Season 3 will not be produced anytime soon. The anime originally debuted in 2008. Season 2 titled Vampire Knight: Guilty premiered the same year. Both seasons were a massive success and gave fans hope for a possible third.

Studio Deen never released information of a third season. Fans were left wanting more since the original manga finished in 2013. With more source material to build a storyline on, why was Vampire Knight Season 3 never conceptualized? When Studio Deen developed both seasons of the anime, Matsuri Hino was still in the middle of creating the rest of the storyline.

It is likely Studio Deen could not wait for the rest of the storyline and lost interest in developing the anime further. After so many years after the anime’s original run, fans should not keep their hopes up for a third installment. Fans are better off reading the manga to know if Zero keeps his promise to Yuki.

Vampire Knight Season 2 ended on some resolution, but there were still loose ends to address. Season 2 revealed Yuki is a pureblood vampire and Kaname’s sister. Her parents wiped her memory before their death so she could live a human life. Her memories return with Kaname’s bite. Kaname informs Yuki she is to be his bride.

Zero is also becoming a Level E vampire but gets his footing when his twin brother dies and drinks his blood. While battling Kaname and Yuki’s uncle Rido Kuran, he reverts to normal. At the end of the battle, Zero kills Rido for good. Cross Academy is in shambles but safe. Yuki addresses Zero in their usual spot, and she drinks his blood. She is now a full-fledged pureblood, and Zero laments telling her he will one day come to kill her.

Yuki realizes she always loved Zero. But her attachment to Kaname is still too strong to forget. The siblings and betrothed leave Cross Academy together, followed by some of the other vampire characters. A Vampire Knight Season 3 could take place years later and have Yuki and Zero cross paths again.
