‘Vanderpump Rules’ Season 9: Lala Kent Says the ‘Sh–t’s Already Hit the Fan and It’s Awesome’
Lala Kent teased a wild Vanderpump Rules Season 9, revealing that viewers can anticipate the high level of messy drama that drew them into the show in the first place. She said new cast members will be compelling for the show, but admits she misses being able to film with departing cast members, referring to them as “a piece of the friendship pie” that’s gone.
‘Vanderpump Rules’ Season 9 will be ‘awesome’ for viewers, not so awesome for the cast
Kent said the season will be fun for the viewers, but not always a lot of fun for the cast. “I think we’ll see new faces,” she said on the Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef podcast. “We’re fresh into it, but, and I didn’t know what to expect, but it’s going to be a great season. I, just based off of what we filmed so far like sh–t’s already hit the fan and it’s awesome. Awesome for viewers, not so awesome for us to have to like face each other daily.”
“It’s a great show,” she continued. “I’m so grateful to be a part of it. You know, it’s just, it’s hard when your job is also like hanging out with your best friends and then they’re no longer a part of it. It just … it changes. And you know, I, that was the thing I enjoyed the most was like, oh my gosh, I get to hang out with my friends and work at the same time. Which, not saying that the rest of the cast, they aren’t, my friends, they definitely are. But a piece of my friendship pie is gone and that’s really hard.”
Lala Kent shares where she and Scheana Shay are today in their relationship
While she’s had a beef with Scheana Shay, Kent says she and Shay are in a decent place … for now. “I like to say that we’re stuck with each other because we’ve been through so much,” Kent remarked. “And I think we have like a really deep love for one another.”
“And now just being parents, you know, it’s very nice because my, my other friends who are moms are no longer on the show,” she continued. “So now Scheana and I, even though we’re bonded, we have a completely new bond that we’ve formed, which is, you know, it’s hard to leave your baby behind, even though Vanderpump Rules is real life. At the end of the day, there’s cameras involved.” Plus, “our babies are only legally allowed to be in front of those cameras for 20 minutes. And then we have to pass them off. And it’s very hard and we shed a lot of tears.”
She added, “We’re in a decent place at the moment. And you know, people will have to see cause we just picked up cameras. So everyone, you know, everyone’s guess is as good as mine to see where all of the friendships and relationships will go.”
Lala Kent says ‘Vanderpump Rules’ Season 8 didn’t work
Kent also reflected on the previous season, which was heavily scrutinized for being disjointed. “I remember filming, I remember filming last season and being like, this is going to be the best season we’ve ever done,” she recalled. “And then I watched it and I couldn’t even get through an episode.”
“It was like it, I was totally with the fans on that,” she said. “I was like, this is what even is this? How do you even follow anything that’s going on? Like way too many new faces, way too big of storylines for people that are brand new. Like no one’s invested in these people. And you know, now look at where we are. None of those people are even on the show, we spend an entire season like trying to make them happen So it’s going to be very different season 9. I think we’ve, I think everybody learned from last year and said, we’re not doing that again.”
