‘Vanderpump Rules’ Star Katie Maloney On Why She Refuses to Reconcile With Kristen Doute
Vanderpump Rules star Katie Maloney is not ready to make amends with Kristen Doute. The two experienced a major falling out in the wake of Doute’s breakup from Brian Carter and have yet to get back on track. With season 8 at the half-way point, Maloney says watching Doute’s behavior on the show is not making things any easier.
Doute opens up about the feud
With her friendship with Maloney and Stassi Schroeder falling apart, Doute recently dished on why she thinks things have gotten so bad.
The Vanderpump Rules star told Us Magazine that part of the problem has been Schroeder’s attitude. Doute believes that Schroeder has been on a “high horse” now that she is engaged to a good man — Beau Clark — and that everyone is targeting her because she is single.
“My [point of view], and I hope that I’m wrong, but it kind of feels like as I’m watching these episodes, and it felt like over the summer, that Stassi was on this high horse of being in this now perfect relationship and now she’s getting married and everything’s great,” she explained.
Doute added that pretty much everyone else on the show has someone they can lean on for support. Lala Kent is with Randall Emmett, Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright are married, and Maloney has Tom Schwartz.
Although she feels like she doesn’t fit in with the rest of the crew anymore, Doute assured Vanderpump Rules fans that she does not “need a man” to accomplish things.
What about her toxic relationship with Carter?
One of the main sources of contention between Doute and Maloney was her toxic relationship with Carter. In the same interview, Doute acknowledged that she wasn’t easy to be around when she dating Carter and she understands how the whole situation could “weigh on someone.”
That said, the Vanderpump Rules star wishes that Maloney and Schroeder would have been “more understanding” at the time.
“I thought I could confide in my two best friends and have my girl venting sesh,” Doute shared. “All women do it, every single one of us, whether you’re married or just dating, you all complain about our dudes to each other, so I thought it would be a little more understanding about that and just let me learn these lessons on my own rather than telling me to kick rocks.”
In Doute’s mind, Maloney and Schroeder could have been better friends and should have stuck it out with her, despite all her drama with Carter.
This is something Doute has expressed during the current season of Vanderpump Rules, which is one reason why Maloney and Schroeder have yet to make amends. In fact, the two completely disagree with Doute’s theory and had some hard things to say about their future as friends.
Watching ‘Vanderpump Rules’ is not helping
Now that the cameras have stopped rolling, Maloney and Schroeder have been watching all the drama unfold in season 8 of Vanderpump Rules. So far, it is safe to say that they have not been impressed by Doute’s actions.
In a recent interview, Maloney admitted that watching the series has not made her want to make amends with Doute. Instead, the way she has been behaving has made Maloney want to put even more distance between her.
“[Watching the show is] not making it harder, but I think sometimes seeing Kristen’s response to things and the way she sort of speaking is, like, kind of pushing me a little further from her,” Maloney shared.
Schroeder echoed Maloney’s sentiments and had a bit more to say about Doute’s grand theory. Like Maloney, Schroeder has been discouraged by what Doute has said on Vanderpump Rules, but she is also disappointed by her former friend’s logic.
“That is the sort of thing that pushes me even further away,” Schroeder stated.
The Vanderpump Rules star went on to debunk Doute’s theory about why their friendship fell apart. For starters, Schroeder revealed that she kept telling Doute that she needed to break up with Carter. She also thinks it is very silly that Doute believes everyone is against her because she is single, saying, “That is the lamest s**t.’”
Will Doute ever make amends with Maloney and Schroeder?
One of the biggest questions moving forward is whether or not Doute will ever be friends with Maloney and Schroeder again. Based on Doute’s reaction to the current season of Vanderpump Rules, it is unlikely that the friends will ever make amends.
In a recent interview with Hollywood Life, Doute revealed that she actually does not care if Maloney and Schroeder become her friends. Doute made the shocking remarks while promoting her new book with Michele Alexander titled He’s Making You Crazy.
“I don’t care if we are never friends again,” Doute said.
Although it sounds like Doute might be a little bitter toward her co-stars, she went on to say that she still loves Schroeder like a sister. She also still talks to Schroeder fairly frequently, though their conversations are not as deep as they used to be.
It is unclear if the same holds true for Maloney, but it sounds like Doute has already moved forward with her life.
New episodes of Vanderpump Rules air Tuesday nights on Bravo.
