Time to throw the “W” up! Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah and Raekwon are about to be in the virtual building for the next Verzuz battle, and it’s slated to be an epic musical celebration.

While rumors constantly swarm about which hip-hop acts will be the next Verzuz pick, this one is confirmed. The legendary Tony Starks himself and the Chef are about to take fans back to the streets.

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland reveal Ghostface and Raekwon Verzuz

Following D’Angelo’s hot Verzuz set at the Apollo on Feb. 27, co-creators Timbaland and Swizz Beatz gave fans a taste of what’s next during the post-show Instagram chat.

For their big reveal, they played records of the artists who are battling each other. Timbaland dropped a snippet of Ghostface Killah’s “Cobra Clutch” while Swizz Beatz hit fans with a dose of “Incarcerated Scarfaces,” “Verbal Intercourse,” and more.

“Wu versus Wu, dates to come,” said Swizz. He added it won’t be weeks or months that fans have to wait, but the date is on the way.

It’s hard not to think about the intro to Ghostface Killah’s Supreme Clientele album or the first lines of dialogue on the Purple Tape with the news that Rae and Ghost are gracing the Verzuz stage.

Longtime Wu-Tang fans know that these two are like their own dynamic duo within the collective, and this is like the Wonder Twins activating or two Avengers assembling.

For those who have ever seen them perform live, you know they roll through their solo hits and combine forces when it comes to their features.

Verzuz announcement follows update on Wu-Tang Hulu series

While the Verzuz news is big, there was another fresh piece of Wu-related information released into the world earlier in February. During an interview with Rolling Stone, RZA touched on the upcoming second season of Wu-Tang: An American Saga and what fans can look forward to.

“I think one big thing is in season 1, we barely touched the actual recording of 36 Chambers,” said RZA. “There’s certain things that happened in that studio that’s hilarious, that’s the capturing of our youth, and also that’s iconic,” he shared.

RZA mentioned the torture skit from the album and how Dave Chappelle reimagined it for his show. He said they’ll dig into the origins of their skit in season 2. The series will also dive into each member’s own rise. “How did Method Man get his name? How did ODB become the one-man army Ason?” he said.

He reiterated it will be all about their youth and noted how fans will hear their aspirations and desperation coming through in the making of their music.

Viewers will also learn about U-God in the upcoming installment, as he was absent from season 1. Though he’ll finally be introduced into the story, it’s noted that U-God missed out on contributing to the group’s debut album because he was locked up. He was only able to drop a few verses.

Fans should stay tuned for updates about the Verzuz event between Ghost and Rae, and keep their fingers crossed for surprise appearances from other members of the Wu family.
