Video Shows Hollywood Megastar Looking in Awe and Captivated by Kate Middleton
There are some Hollywood A-listers who would leave just about anyone starstruck. And sometimes those megastars are in awe of others, like when they’re in the presence of royalty.
When the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) attended the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final on July 14 she received a very warm welcome. And joining in that ovation were quite a few superstars, including one famous face whose enthusiastic reaction to seeing the princess is now going viral.
The Hollywood star who couldn’t stop smiling for Kate’s return
The day before the Wimbledon Men’s Singles Final, Kensington Palace announced that Kate would be attending the event which marked her second public appearance since she revealed her cancer diagnosis in March. The mom of three was accompanied by her daughter, Princess Charlotte, and her sister, Pippa Middleton, to watch the highly anticipated match between Novak Djokovic of Serbia and Carlos Alcaraz of Spain.
As she made her way to her seat in the Royal Box, she was given a standing ovation from the crowd with some Hollywood royalty just feet away.
A video posted on TikTok shows Benedict Cumberbatch, Julia Roberts, and Tom Cruise all clapping for Kate. And Cruise’s reaction as he smiled from ear to ear did not go unnoticed, as some are convinced he’s captivated and in awe of the princess every time he sees her.
“Tom is a major Kate fan haha,” one person wrote.
“Tom is soooo happy,” a second added.
“Tom luuuuuuvs her,” another said.
A fourth agreed that “Tom Cruise loves and admires Princess Catherine.”
And a fifth posted, “Looks like Tom is clapping that hard to get Kate’s attention,” while others joked that the Mission Impossible star has a “crush” on the princess.
The video has gone viral with well over 4 million views, more than 275,000 likes, and thousands of comments.
The actor had another viral moment with Kate a few years back
Since Wimbledon, other videos of Cruise and the princess have been circulating on TikTok including clips from May 19, 2022, when William and Kate arrived at the Top Gun: Maverick London premiere.
The moment everyone couldn’t stop talking about that night was when Cruise grabbed Kate’s hand to assist her as she climbed a flight of stairs.
Sky News Australia contributor Dr. Erin Watson explained that the princess switched which hand she held her clutch in after Cruise’s gesture because royals aren’t to be touched. However, most fans believe the actor didn’t know about that protocol.
“I don’t think Tom meant anything other than trying to just be a gentleman,” one person opined.
