In season 6 of Vikings, Ivar the Boneless (Alex Høgh Andersen) establishes connections with both Prince Oleg (Danila Kozlovsky) and Igor (Oran Glynn O’Donovan). He shares a strange relationship with each of them and one Reddit user thinks the three of them could all symbolically represent a single person. Read on to learn their reasoning.

A Reddit user recently discussed their own thoughts and predictions for season 6B. They went into immense detail and discussed the intricate way that Ivar, Oleg, and Igor are all connected. Ivar and Oleg have an obvious connection. Ivar was married to a woman who looks exactly like Oleg’s new wife. They both also “rule through fear and inspire cruelty in their followers,” according to this user. The stark differences can be seen in their ages and experiences in life.
“To Ivar, Oleg is everything he could’ve been or even everything he can become if he follows his current path. Everything he’s ever wanted to be,” the Reddit user explained.
Ivar is conflicted about Oleg and his future
It’s a conflicting place to be for Ivar the Boneless. He sees Oleg as an all-powerful man and someone he’d like to be, but at the same time, he sees the cruelty and evil in the man. Ivar still has to decide if he wants to be Oleg, or take a different path.
“He sees everything he could’ve been in Oleg and so Ivar’s arc will be deciding if he wants to become that man,” the Reddit user continued. “However, there is another person Ivar sees himself in, Igor who, like children tend to do in media, represent new life, hope, and a happy future.”
How Ivar, Oleg, and Igor could all symbolically represent a single person
Ivar sees himself in each of them and he feels pulled in two different directions. What will he choose? He could continue on a path of cruelty and end up just like Oleg or worse. Or, he could revert back to his more childlike innocence seen in Igor and save himself from a terrible fate.
“In other words, Igor, Ivar, and Oleg all represented one person at different stages in their life and it all comes down to which path Ivar will take: the path of his future self Oleg, or protect and save the childhood innocence in Igor,” the Reddit user wrote.
The Reddit user believes that Oleg will kill his wife who looks just like Ivar’s. This will make their connection even clearer to Ivar. He could then choose to save his innocence and Igor in hopes of undoing all the bad. Ivar could end up dying to try and save Igor from a terrible fate at the hands of Oleg, sacrificing himself in the worst way.
We’ll have to see if this Reddit user’s predictions are correct, but it makes perfect sense how Ivar, Oleg, and Igor are all connected and could all symbolically represent a single person.
