Bjorn never seems to be satisfied with anything. He finally gets to become King of Kattegat as his father was before him, but it doesn’t seem to be enough for him. He’s always too busy looking for the next best thing.

A great example of this is his desire to cheat on whichever woman he’s supposed to be loyal to at the time. This season, Bjorn has been cheating on Gunnhild (Ragga Ragnars), who doesn’t seem to mind, or at least that’s how she is pretending to feel. In the most recent episode, it seems like Bjorn may be getting two wives instead of just the usual one. However, knowing Bjorn, that won’t be enough to satisfy him for long.

He lets the bandits go free

At the beginning of season 6, Bjorn lets bandits go free into the woods, and they don’t just stop there. They come back with a vengeance and they actually lead to Bjorn’s son’s death. The bandits were Ivar’s (Alex Høgh Andersen) men and many people opposed Bjorn’s choice to let them go free. But he did what he thought he should because he’s always second-guessing himself. He made the wrong choice in the end.

Bjorn tries too hard to be a great man

Bjorn’s own mother, Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), faces a set of circumstances that leads to her death because the bandits are set free by her son. She ends up being killed by Hvitserk (Marco Ilsø) when she is crawling on the ground and wounded from the bandit leader after riding back to Kattegat.

It can all be directly tied to Bjorn. If he had never let the bandits go free, then arguably his son and his mother would still be alive. So, what exactly is Bjorn’s problem? Why is he struggling so much? His greatest downfall is his quest to be a greater man than his father, Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel). If he didn’t second-guess every choice and actually thought a little more clearly about things with a level head, than maybe he wouldn’t be in the mess he finds himself in now.

People are losing respect for Bjorn Ironside

Fans have lost respect for Bjorn this season and question his ability to be King of Kattegat in the future. He’s so fixated on the next best thing. Case in point: his issues with women. Another great example is his desire to be king of Norway, which doesn’t work out too well for Bjorn. He isn’t satisfied with what he has and he’s always trying to be greater than he already is.

Bjorn Ironside needs to take a step back and look at himself a little closer. He may find he doesn’t like the man he has become.
