Veteran actress and Julliard graduate Viola Davis has been a staple in the entertainment industry since the ’90s when she starred in numerous small roles in various films and TV shows. However, Davis first began to be recognized in 2001 when she won the Tony Award for her searing performance as Tonya in August Wilson’s King Hedley II. Still, it took a while for the most elite in Hollywood to notice the South Carolina native’s astounding talent. It wasn’t until her role in 2008’s Doubt where she starred opposite Meryl Streep and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman when Davis finally got the recognition that she deserves.

Now, Davis is in numerous massive films each year including Widows, Fences and Suicide Squad, and she stars in the hit ABC drama, How to Get Away With Murder. So how much is the acting legend worth today?

Viola Davis is worth $12 million

Though she is only missing the Grammy and she would be an EGOT winner, according to Celebrity Net Worth, the legendary Viola Davis is worth just $12 million –which if we’re being honest, seems a bit low for such an acclaimed actress. Though she has numerous accolades and awards, for women and Black women in Hollywood, in particular, getting parity for their work is still a massive concern which Davis has been very open about.

In Feb 2018. The Help actress sat down to chat with journalist Tina Brown for the Women in the World Salon. She said, “I have a career that’s probably comparable to Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Sigourney Weave. They all came out of Yale; they came out of Juilliard, they came out of NYU. They had the same path as me, and yet I am nowhere near them. Not as far as money, not as far as job opportunities, no where close to it.”People say, ‘You’re a black Meryl Streep… We love you. There is no one like you.’ Okay, then if there’s no one like me, you think I’m that, you pay me what I’m worth.”

For How to Get Away With Murder, Davis earns $250,000 per episode

Viola Davis stars as Annalise Keating gon the acclaimed ABC drama How to Get Away With Murder. For her work, she receives a salary of $250,000 per episode. Since #datmurda only has 15 episodes per season so that Davis can work on her film projects, she brings home $3.75 million for her TV work each year.

Though Davis’ net worth might not seem monumental presently, it’s still growing each year. In 2019 through 2020 she is slated to be in the Sundance film Troupe Zero, an untiled Harriet Tubman Project and she and Lupita Nyong’o will star together in a new mother/daughter film that we are absolutely thrilled to learn more about.
