‘Virgin River’: Netflix Has Renewed the Series for Seasons 4 and 5
Virgin River has dazzled fans since it first debuted on Netflix. The romantic dramas series, which is based on Robyn Carr’s books is one of the streaming services’ most-watched shows. The series follows Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse who moves from Los Angeles to Virgin River for a fresh start.
Amid her healing, Mel falls for Jack Sheridan (Martin Sheridan), a retired Marine and the town’s bar owner. Fans have been eager to continue watching the magic of Mel and Jack’s romance. Now Netflix has renewed the series, and the news is bigger than expected.
What happened during ‘Virgin River’ Season 3?
A lot happened at the end of the third season. Brady (Ben Hollingsworth) was arrested for shooting Jack. However, fans aren’t convinced he pulled the trigger. Preacher (Collin Lawrence), was lured away by Paige’s (Lexa Doig) alleged best friend, leaving Christopher (Chase Petriw) and Connie (Nicola Cavendish) vulnerable.
Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley), who is allegedly pregnant with Jack’s babies has gotten married to Todd (Patrick Sabongui), an abusive lawyer. Also, Mel has revealed her pregnancy to Jack just as he was set to propose. Unfortunately, the news was bittersweet as Mel also explained to Jack that she wasn’t sure if the baby was his.
Since season 3 ended with so many cliffhangers, fans will be thrilled to know that new episodes are returning soon.
Netflix has renewed ‘Virgin River’ for seasons 4 and 5
After months of anticipation, fans are thrilled to learn that Netflix has renewed Virgin River for both season 4 and season 5. “Netflix has ordered 2 more seasons of the popular show, Virgin River,” the Netflix press release states. “Starring Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson, Virgin River tells the love story of Mel Monroe (Breckenridge) who answers an ad to work as a midwife and nurse practitioner in the remote Northern California town of Virgin River, thinking it will be the perfect place to start fresh and leave her painful memories.”
Sue Tenney, the series’ showrunner has already hinted at what we can expect when Virgin River returns to Netflix. “I want to do as many seasons as we can,” Tenney told Us Weekly. She also hinted at who shot Jack. “If we get the actual reveal [in season 4], it would detail more of how this all was intertwined,” she explained. “The webbing of that story goes all the way back to the first season, so it’s a connective tissue that goes through four seasons.”
Tenney has explained that Jack’s shooter will be revealed in season 4 as well as the paternity of Mel’s baby.
Fans believe the cast and crew have been secretly filming season 4
Virgin River has just been renewed by Netflix, but fans believe the series has been filming new episodes since July 2021. In August, the Instagram account for The Watershed Grill in North Vancouver shared a major clue. The grill is the location Virgin River uses for Jack’s bar. In an Instagram post, they announced they would be closed for filming. Obviously, this immediately caused Virgin River fans to swarm.
Though the restaurant changed its verbiage to “maintenance” instead of filming, it was too late. Now fans are hoping to return to Virgin River by early 2022.
