Netflix is headed back to Virgin River, and we have questions. Season 5 of the romantic drama ended with Mel connecting with her biological father, firefighters discovering Wes’ body in the woods, and the revelation that Lark was keeping a big secret from Brady regarding her connection with his former nemesis, Jimmy. How will the show resolve those and other plot points? We’ll have to wait and see, but these are the biggest questions we’re eager to get answers to in Virgin River Season 6.

Will Mel and Jack get married?

Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack (Martin Henderson) have been through the wringer as a couple, and Virgin River fans are eager to see the pair get the happy ending they deserve (especially after Mel’s devastating miscarriage in season 5). Netflix has been teasing their wedding in season 6, even setting up a wedding website for the couple. We’re fairly confident that Jack and Mel will get to say “I do” this season – the poster show’s Mel in her wedding dress, after all. But this is Virgin River, so chances are good there will be some unexpected bumps on their way to the altar.

Are Brie and Brady really done?

Jack’s sister Brie (Zibby Allen) pumped the brakes on her hot-and-heavy romance with reformed bad boy Brady (Benjamin Hollingsworth) in season 5. She moved on with police officer Mike (Marco Grazzini), while he connected with single mom Lark (Elise Gatien). But there were hints that Brie and Brady might still have feelings for each other. On paper, Mike is the perfect boyfriend, but could Brie still be craving that dose of excitement that Brady delivers? And how will Brady react when he eventually learns that Lark has been lying to him? Our gut says the odds of a Brie-and-Brady hookup this season are strong.

Does Lizzie have her baby?

In season 5, Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) had a big decision to make when she discovered she was pregnant with Denny’s (Kai Bradbury) baby. The young couple weren’t intending to become parents, but they’ve decided to embrace the journey. However, the shadow of Denny’s Huntington’s disease diagnosis could cast a pall over what should be a happy time. There’s also a fan theory that Denny isn’t the father of Lizzie’s baby, and that the dad is really her ex Ricky (Grayson Gurnsey).

But our biggest question is whether Lizzie will give birth in season 6. Virgin River is notorious for one of the longest pregnancies in TV history – Jack’s ex Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) had a bun in the oven for four seasons. The show has confirmed that season 6 opens several months after the events of last year’s Christmas special, which means that Lizzie should be fairly far along in her pregnancy and could welcome her little one this season.

Will Calvin cause more trouble for Charmaine?

When Charmaine first discovered she was pregnant, she tried to convince Jack he was the father. He was ready to step up and parent her twins, but she eventually confessed that he wasn’t their dad. The show kept the real father’s identity under wraps for a while, but at the end of season 5, we learned that the man in question was actually the nefarious Calvin (David Cubitt), who everyone thought was dead.

Calvin had somehow escaped the boat explosion and was now back in Virgin River, demanding that Charmaine let him see his children. Understandably, Charmaine did not seem thrilled with the prospect of having to co-parent with a drug kingpin. But will she be able to keep Calvin away from her boys? Calvin’s no stranger to violence, and there’s no telling the lengths to which he’ll go to get what he wants.

Is Preacher going to prison?

Back in Virgin River Season 2, Paige (Lexa Doig) killed her abusive ex Wes (Steve Bacic) by pushing him down the stairs. Preacher (Colin Lawrence) stepped up to help her hide his body in the woods. But Wes was a problem that couldn’t stay buried. Not only did the wildfires in season 5 devastate the town, but they also uncovered Wes’ corpse. Virgin River Season 6 will undoubtedly deal with the fallout from that discovery, including the effect it has on Preacher’s new relationship with Kaia (Kandyse McClure). And if he is linked to Wes’ death, he could be facing serious consequences, including prison time.

What’s the story with Everett?

‘Virgin River’ Christmas Episodes: The Return of This Character Could Mean Big Trouble for Brady

In the Virgin River Christmas episode, Mel met her biological father, a man named Everett Reid (John Allen Nelson). While we know that he had a relationship with Mel’s late mother, we don’t know anything else about their romance, or what Everett has been doing in the years since. Fortunately, season 6 promises to fill in some of those gaps. We’ll meet younger versions of Mel’s mom and Everett (played by Jessica Rothe and Callum Kerr) as they meet and fall in love in the 1970s. And we’ll also get to know Everett in the present day, though he isn’t exactly an open book.

“The big new mystery character this season is Mel’s biological father, Everett Reid, who is carrying a long-held secret,” showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told Tudum

Virgin River Season 6 premieres Thursday, Dec. 19 on Netflix.
