‘Virgin River’: Season 4 Will Have Way More Episodes Than You May Expect
It’s official, Netflix‘s highly rated drama series Virgin River is set to return with new episodes. Based on the best-selling book series by author Robyn Carr, the series has romance, drama, and mystery all swirled in one. The show chronicles the life of Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge). A nurse and midwife, Mel relocates from Los Angeles to the small town for a fresh start.
What she doesn’t expect is the tight-knit community or the sparks she has with retired Marine, Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson). Now that we know the next chapter of Virgin River is on the horizon, fans might be shocked to know that season 4 is about to be much larger than they might expect.
What is the release date for ‘Virgin River’ Season 4?
After a ton of anticipation, Netflix announced some major news pertaining to Virgin River. The streaming platform has renewed the series for seasons 4 and 5. “Netflix has ordered 2 more seasons of the popular show, Virgin River,” the Netflix press release states.
There have been rumors for some time that filming for season 4 had already been underway. Netflix Life has reported that filming for season 4 began in July 2021. It is expected to conclude in November 2021, just before the Thanksgiving holiday.
This means that the new season will likely debut in the spring of 2022, with season 5 likely slated for the winter of 2022.
‘Virgin River’ Season 4 will have 12 episodes
In addition to two new seasons, the fourth season of Virgin River will be more expansive than previous seasons. Typically Virgin River has 10 episodes per season, but season 4 is slated to have 12. Ben Hollingsworth who portrays Dan Brady and Colin Lawrence who portrays John “Preacher” Middleton shared the news on Instagram.
“So excited to share with you that our little show has been picked up for two seasons!!!! Thank you all for being the best fans ever!!!!!” Lawrence captioned his post.
Then, Lawrence revealed in the video that season 4 will have 12 episodes. “Did you just say 12?” Hollingsworth asks. “That means you might need to split it up into two days this time guys.”
Season 4 will answer a lot of questions
It appears that those extra two episodes in the upcoming fourth season of the series will answer a ton of questions that fans have. As we know, Virgin River Season 3 came to a thunderous conclusion with a ton of cliffhangers. Charmaine married her controlling finance Todd, who is attempted to shut Jack out of his unborn twins’ lives. Mel revealed her pregnancy to Jack just as he was about to propose. However, she also revealed that she wasn’t sure if Jack was the father.
Brady was arrested for shooting Jack. Preacher was drugged and left in the woods by a “friend” of Paige’s. Wes confronted Connie and Christopher. Hope was left fighting for her life after a horrific car accident. Doc’s grandson turned up in town. Finally, Lizzie and Ricky split.
“If we get the actual reveal [in season 4], it would detail more of how this all was intertwined,” Virgin River showrunner Sue Tenney told Us Weekly. “The webbing of that story goes all the way back to the first season, so it’s a connective tissue that goes through four seasons.”
