‘Virgin River’: A New Theory About Preacher Hints at Paige’s Storyline for Season 4
Virgin River is one of those Netflix shows that you can’t help but fall in love with. Based on best-selling author Robyn Carr’s 21-book series of the same name, the drama series follows Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge), a nurse and midwife who leaves behind her life in Los Angeles to move to the sleepy town of Virgin River.
While Mel comes to Virgin River to heal, she doesn’t anticipate all that is happening with the residents who are dealing with their own drama. While she is falling for Jack (Martin Henderson), the town’s bar owner, other people in the town are running from their past as well.
Paige Lassiter (Lexa Doig), the town’s baker has feelings for the town’s chef, Preacher (Colin Lawrence) but she has her own secrets. Though it appears that the Virgin River writers are hinting at Preacher and Paige connecting romantically, things change drastically at the end of the second season. Now, this new theory about Preacher might be directly tied to Paige’s fate.
Why is Paige missing in ‘Virgin River’ Season 3?
When we first meet Paige she appears to be an everyday hardworking single mom. An owner of a bakery truck who is raising her young son Christopher (Chase Petriw), we soon discover that Paige is on the run from her abusive husband, Wes (Steve Bacic), even changing her name and hair to escape. At the end of the second season, Paige accidentally kills Wes during a confrontation and enlist Preacher, who is also a former Marine to help hide the body.
Fearing for her life when Wes’ twin brother, Vince (Ian Tracey) comes sniffing around Virgin River looking for answers, Paige flees, leaving Christopher in Preacher’s care. Since Preacher doesn’t have custody nor is he Christopher’s legal guardian, he’s now in a challenging position. It doesn’t help that he’s been drugged and left for dead by Paige’s alleged friend.
Preacher’s fate in the ‘Virgin River’ Season 3 finale could be tied to Paige
In the Virgin River Season 3 finale, Preacher is led into the woods and drugged by Paige’s alleged best friend, leaving Christopher vulnerable. Though some fans have speculated that Paige is dead since she was nowhere to be found in Virgin River Season 3, others believe that she’s alive based on what has happened to Preacher.
According to Pure Wow, Preacher is just a distraction so that Vince can lure Christopher away without being stopped by the meddling townspeople of Virgin River. Kidnapping Christopher could also lure Paige out of hiding.
While some fans think Paige’s fate is sealed, she was also possibly absent since coronavirus (COVID-19) restrictions limited the number of people on set at one time.
